Tinnitus Since
12/24/2014
hi everybody.days ago i got what i believe is tinnitus.i think i know how i got it but i'm questioning myself if i really got it that way.i was working the saw, hammer, screw gun for 1 day.then 1 night i just started to hear a low noise in my left ear.so i thought nothing of it.2 days later i went out into the barn using the shopvac(with earmuffs) plus i nailed some boards.i'm also thinking if i got it due to pain i had 2 weeks ago in my left side of the jaw? years ago i had a tooth replaced.just last month i used listerine to make the pain in the replaced tooth go away.also thinking if i got it eating too much choclate?(high blood pressure)atm its pretty noticeable and its bugging/stressing the heck out of me(like others on here) went to see a regular doctor(urgent care one) he said theres nothing wrong with me and no wax buildup.he was done with me in 2 minutes.plus he told me basically not to come to the urgent care area unless it was an emergency.his receptionist made an appointment for me to see a regular medical doctor who will advise me on what to do.

the appointment is sheduled for jan 7.now my questions are.should i call around for a hearing specialist to speed up the process? the sooner the more chance i can reduce it? also is there any medicine that i can get at the pharmacy right now that can calm my nerves/noise? does this product from amazon work? vita sciences tinnifree.is it ok to start jogging? i havent jogged in a while.forgot to mention i'm hard of hearing type of person ever since a little boy.the noise sounds like a ringing.what should i take to make myself go to sleep faster? i have trouble sleeping it takes me a while to catch sleep.

Unfortunately they will be unable to do anything. The tinnitus may reduce in time by itself but a specialist will have no answers.

There are prescription medicines available. Benzos for short term use or antidepressants. You will need to discuss this with a doctor.
does this product from amazon work?
Definitely not. Do not waste your money.
is it ok to start jogging? i havent jogged in a while.
Of course. Exercise will probably help your anxiety.

Again, there is medication available that you can discuss with a doctor. There are a couple of over the counter options as well which may not work as well but are worth a try. One option is doxylamine. A more natural solution would be to play music or white noise to mask the sound of the tinnitus while trying to fall to sleep.

Welcome to a group with wonderful support and information.
My first suggestion is to see a ENT ear, nose and throat specialist since you mentioned you have had hearing problems before this set in.
The Stuff you see on Amazon and such have not been the answer, don't waste your money.
Where are you located? Perhaps someone from this group can suggest a provider in your area. Sorry you are going through this struggle but people here can give you great advice.

Oops I see Marcini and I don't agree about the ENT, he is correct, no help to me saw two different ones. But I needed to rule out any physical cause.
No, I don't disagree. I'm just saying that there is no need to bring it forward when the date is already the 7th Jan. I think that is sufficiently quick. As you rightly point out though, it is very unlikely they will be able to do anything unless there is a physical cause i.e. wax buildup etc.

first of all.thank you guys for replying.i'm located in merced california.i guess i should be fine with the jan 7 appointment.wouldnt hurt to see 2 more ent's after that.in the mean time i'm going to start exercising to make myself go to sleep easier.i'm 34 years old btw.
