Otologic Pharmaceutics (Hearing Loss Prevention and Treatment Pill)

I ran into an article today where a spinoff from the Hough Ear Institute and Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Otologic Pharmaceutics, has created a hearing loss prevention and treatment pill. I haven't seen this before and from the article it looks like they had some success regrowing nerve endings. I am somewhat skeptical that a pill can do this, but if it were to work that would be less invasive than other avenues currently being pursued.

I tried to dig a little deeper, their website doesn't look like it has been updated recently and they claimed to be starting clinical trials in 2014 for their product HPN1010. As for more recent updates, I haven't seen any.

That article has been discussed over in this thread. Unfortunately, I would treat that article with a healthy dose of skepticism. Otologic Pharmaceutics hasn't issued a press release since 2014, and the only time they've been in the news in the past two years is this article.
