Ototoxic Meds Clarification

Dear Dr. Nagler,
Thank you for your ongoing support. Your latest response re living our lives and not letting t effect us is a very important message. 11 months into t, I can completely appreciate all that you say.
One clarification re ototoxic meds. On the list put out by ATA, meds such as benzos and anesthetic (lidocaine) are also listed. I am currently weaning off a low dose benzo (6 months use so far).
Can you comment on this? And should this more extensive list be taken into account?

I may be in the minority on this point, but in my opinion lists like the one in the above link do the tinnitus community an incredible disservice.

I think that a simple listing of the (handful of) drugs known to potentially cause permanent auditory damage is of considerable value. The rest? It's a waste of bytes at best. What are you going to do - avoid every drug that might possibly temporarily aggravate your tinnitus? And while you're at it avoid every food that might possibly temporarily aggravate your tinnitus? And every activity?

Your goal should be to kick tinnitus off your bus. Lists like that put tinnitus squarely in the driver's seat.
