If you have pain hyperacusis, do you also perceive sounds as loud?

Because I don't... everything sounds the same to me, it just hurts, and I am even starting to question if it is even hyperacusis I have :(

There are four types, annoyance, fear, loudness and pain hyperacusis. You can have all or combination, or just one. So you definitely have pain hyperacusis but not loudness hyperacusis.

I have pretty bad pain hyperacusis too. When I have a bad setback, I get periods of amplified hearing. For example I once talked to my flatmate plugs in and had to ask her to whisper because her talking on a low voice was still too loud for me. Lol, good times.

I tell people to lower their voice too, but not because it sounds loud but because it hurts.

This is indeed what recent research has shown. I have pain hyperacusis as well, and sound gives me long lasting pain (days to weeks). Sound is not perceived as too loud. It has been speculated that pain hyperacusis is, at least in part, neuropathic and distinct from loudness H in terms of its underlying mechanisms. At first, I wasn't sure whether it was pain H or some form of neuralgia, but it has been proposed that pain H is a form of neuralgia.

With hyperacusis everything sounds unbearably loud.

Then, can I assume that your sound tolerance is near to normal? How do you avoid loudness that will give you pain?
No, my sound tolerance is not normal at all. Many sounds give me pain, also sounds that are low.
