"All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident."
--Arthur Schopenhauer, Philosopher

Don't know, but maybe this one:

"I'm 67 years old. Every day, the future looks a little bit darker. But the past... even the grimy parts of it... keep on getting brighter" - Sally Jupiter, Watchmen

I wouldn't say this is my favorite but I enjoyed this one:

If we could shrink the earth's population to a village of precisely 100 people, with all the existing human ratios remaining the same, it would look similar to this: 57 Asians; 21 Europeans; 14 from the Western Hemisphere; 8 Africans; 52 would be female; 48 would be male; 70 would be non-white; 30 would be white; 70 would be non-Christian; 30 would be Christian; 89 would be heterosexual; 11 would be homosexual; 6 people would possess 59% of the entire world's wealth and all 6 would be from the United States.; 80 would live in substandard housing; 70 would be unable to read; 50 would suffer from malnutrition; 1 would be near death; 1 would be near birth; 1 would have a college education; 1 would own a computer: When one considers our world from such an incredibly compressed perspective, the need for both tolerance and understanding becomes glaringly apparent.

Maybe we can bring this Quote thread back to life? Here's one I found on my Instagram feed this morning:

"It may be that when we no longer know what to do, we have come to our real work and when we no longer know which way to go, we have begun our real journey." Wendell Berry

Remember the six Rules of succes:
1) trust yourself
2) break some rules
3) don't be afraid to fail
4) ignore the naysayers
5) work like hell
6) give something back

Just remember: You can't climb the ladder of succes with hands in your pockets

"It's like in life. Gotta have a little sadness once in awhile so you know when the good times come. I'm waiting on the good times now.". - Sir. Bob Ross.

After a challenging weekend, I relaxed today and did some yoga and meditation. I usually do it in silence, but left the Soundscapes music station on the TV to balance out the T a bit. They have quotes on the screen too and when I was done, this one was on the screen: "If I have lost confidence in myself, I have the universe against me." Ralph Waldo Emerson.

This was kind of like a kick in the butt, because I've been depressed and scared and just succumbing to the dark side! When I can just as easily go towards the light.

I like some of H. Jackson Brown's quotes:

"Never deprive someone of hope; it may be all they have."
"Remember that children, marriages, and flower gardens reflect the kind of care they get."

This is not a quote but a poem by Gail Brook Burkett:

I do not ask to walk smooth paths
Nor bear an easy load.
I pray for strength and fortitude
To climb the rock-strewn road.

Give me such courage I can scale
The hardest peaks alone,
And transform every stumbling block
Into a stepping-stone.

Another of my favorites:

Worry is a thin stream of fear trickling through the mind. If encouraged, it cuts a channel into which all other thoughts are drained. ~~ Arthur Somers Roche ~~

I took a mindfulness-based stress reduction meditation class a few years ago. This is a quote from Lao-Tsu I learned while attending it. It always spoke to me especially since I'm not a very patient person!

Do you have the patience to wait
Till your mud settles and the water is clear?
Can you remain unmoving
Till the right action arises by itself?

"It's like in life. Gotta have a little sadness once in awhile so you know when the good times come. I'm waiting on the good times now.". - Sir. Bob Ross.

Oh gee... I remember him ! I enjoyed watching his program from time to time. Words of wisdom for sure.

Not a quote, but a poem I also learned from the MBSR meditation workshop I took. I think it's fairly famous:

The Guest House

This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.

A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.

Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they are a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.

The dark thought, the shame, the malice.
Meet them at the door laughing and invite them in.

Be grateful for whatever comes.
Because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.

--Jelaluddin Rumi

Seek people search the truth, rum from people who tell you they found it. --My philosophy professor

I don't have any friends, I got family!

I have the simplest tastes. I am always satisfied with the best. Oscar Wilde

Give me a minute, I'm good. Give me an hour, I'm great. Give me six months, I'm unbeatable.

Our clear conscience does not prevent us from sins, but it detains us from enjoying them ..

Whoever said "It's lonely at the top" was wrong, because all my friends are here.

"The world is violent and mercurial.. it will have its way with you. We are saved only by love.. love for each other and the love that we pour into the art we feel compelled to share: being a parent; being a writer; being a painter; being a friend. We live in a perpetually burning building, and what we must save from it, all the time, is love."

Tennessee Williams
