Pulsating Hum?

Hi!

Been a T sufferer for about 1.5 years now. I'm a 32 y/o male and throughout this year, I've had a constant high-pitched frequency, and a then few other odd sounds that lasted a few days and then disappeared. So that's been the norm the last 18 months.

I should also note, that for many years I've had other vestibular issues, and have been to an ENT and the verdict is basically out. Possibly Meniere's, but if so, it's somewhat a-typical. I don't have any serious hearing loss, which is pretty much required for diagnosis, but I do have dizzy episodes that can last for hours. I've had these since I was 14 I think, had years without, and some years with 3-4 episodes. I also have tinnitus, of course, and then often feelings of fullness in one or both ears. Other possibility is vestibular migraines, I guess. Or I just have some messed up ears!

Over the last few weeks though, I've been noticing this throbbing or pulsating hum sound, which is hard to put my finger on, but it's quite annoying. I've more or less gotten used to the high-pitched sound, and now this! I also often notice that I can hear my heartbeat in my ears at night too, and I don't know if this is related, or something I should see my doc about?

Thoughts?

Mark

Hey @Mark P

How's your blood pressure? Yes, the heartbeat pulsing is quite annoying. I would defiantly see the doctor. I'm going to the doctor myself. I''m no expert. I can't match the knowledge, kindness, or general compassion others show on the forum. I like to read the stories. When I read about your dizzy spells, it reminded me of a period I went through being scared of highs. I'm still afraid of highs. Thanks for sharing your experience. I truly hope your doctors can help.

Hi, Mark P,

I agree that it would be a good idea to see a doctor about your new condition. I have pulsatile tinnitus, too, and I certainly understand how you are feeling. The pulsating may have started because your ear is already vulnerable, due to the current tinnitus. At any rate, it's a good idea to have it checked out, so you can rule out any problems.

I had the feeling of ear fullness, too, when mine first started, along with dizziness and even some vertigo. However, with time, that has gone away. Now, I have still have the tinnitus and the pulsating, but when things are calm, I don't notice the pulsating much during the day.

I wish you well, and hope your doctor will provide some answers for you.

Best wishes,
Karen
