Does hibituation to tinnitus happen in time automatically as the brain evenually learns to cope with T .
I went to a clinic in Memphis TN Shea Ear Clinic my doctor tested my hearing said I had subjective tinnitus and did not prescribe any meds but ginkgo and meletonin and said to have MRI inwhich was found nothing abnormal. Is the natural route the best way to treat T. My problem is sleep so my PCP said he has tried every sleep med he can give me ambien lunesta, so if it is true that hibituation happens eventually how long and how do I make it till then without stronger meds like xanax klodipin or antidepressants.I've tried to mask it but it does not work for me , please help ,I;m due to see a pyhc doctor in a couple of days.I've had 2 panic attacks and have taken xanax and I now have klodipin but I dont want to take it except for panic attacks.the Benz work great but you know the down side to these drugs.again please help.

Thanks Michael

Hi Michael -

Habituation does tend to happen automatically over time, but it really has nothing to do with coping.

Rather, the key lies in identifying and effectively addressing your own obstacles to habituation. I have been working on a Doctors' Corner response in that particular regard. So please stay tuned!

Is the natural route the best way to treat T.

I am sorry, but I really don't think it's a one-size-fits-all proposition. I wish it were that simple.
