In England they cost £100.00 pound to have done by a dentist but if the Maxillofacial specialist does one in England it's free....lots of love glynis

It depends on what kind of splint. There are different kinds, but they can run that high. I would still get at least one more opinion as there is always a risk with a splint as your bite will be altered, doesn't allow for natural shifting of teeth, etc. and you want to be sure this is the best option to try.

I wear a night guard that is put in hot water then cold water to mold. My TMJ rarely gives me issues - only when the guard gets really worn and thin over time. For some people, that is all they need for TMJ and a splint can be overkill - but you really want a couple of opinions.

I don't wear a splint Moore and was awaiting surgery.
I have had some dental work and a partial denture and my jaw is now free of problems....lots of love glynis

I have TMJ and i get swelling and a lot of aching .
Is a splint one of those gum shield type things? My dentist gave me one of those but it just hurts my teeth and i cannot wear it. My dentist did not seem to know anything about TMJ. Really . He just said the gaurd will protect me from teeth grinding.
