Hi,

Unfortunately, I have developed tinnitus after using poppers, specifically amyl nitrite, over a short period of time. It started in June, along with moderate hyperacusis. I've noticed that when I take a dietary supplement for my digestive issues called 'Permea Regul Fort,' my tinnitus reduces or even becomes inaudible. As soon as I stop the treatment, it comes back. The problem is that it's very expensive, and I can't afford to take it every day over a long period. I would like to isolate certain components to try them individually. Do you have any idea what might work? I've already tried NAC, D3 vitamin and Zinc on its own without success. Here's the composition:

 It's 47€ for 15 sachets? 119€ for 45 sachets? That is on the expensive side.

Have you tried these individually in same or higher doses as in your expensive supplement:
  • N-acetylcysteine (NAC)
  • Quercetin
  • Bioflavonoids (orange, lemon, lime, grapefruit, tangerine, hesperidin and rutin)?
If it were me, I would try them together first. I don't have studies to post but I've many times seen people try these...

I don't think the benefits can come from the Vitamin A, Bs, C, D, E or Zinc as they are small amounts in that supplement.

Yes, it's really expensive but it works well for my IBS. I've only tried Quercetin, Zinc, and Vitamin D3. I'll try what you're suggesting with Quercetin and Bioflavonoids.

Almost all of these supplements have been tried as monotherapy with no effect. Over the last decade, experts have recommended using a combination approach to treat tinnitus, as none of the treatments seem to work well on their own. It's similar to HIV treatment, where multiple medications are used because each one alone has limited effectiveness.

In the genuine Treatments category on Tinnitus Talk, you'll find a combination of supplements under Hamid Djalilian's migraine protocol (NeuroMed).

I suggest starting there.
