Cause of Tinnitus
Not sure
Hello I am a 63 year old male about 4 years ago I started with a slight ringing in my left ear now it's screaming I have C5 6 issues but no one has ever checked to see if the nerves are being pinched at that level.. has anyone had tinnitus diagnosed from the spinal cord I'm being told that everything going into the ear looks okay from having an MRI done with contrast does anybody have any thoughts on this thank you

Hello I can relate with you and have been through the MRI with contrast with no tumors or problems thank God. I also have neck and lower back issues. Almost everyone over 50 has some sort of spinal arthritis and have always wondered if it contributes to my T. I can move my lower jaw in and out and make the T change pitch so it could be from TMJ also have impacted wisdom teeth and wonder if that could be a culprit. Check the medications you are taking and see if any have side effects of ringing of the ears. I dont pay attention to my T as much as I did with the onset but still can be annoying at times. good luck and hope you find relief ....

There are many causes which can trigger or aggravate tinnitus including drug reaction or side-effects, ear or Eustachian tube infection, ear drum injury, fluid build-up feeling pressured, TMJ, high blood pressure or blood circulation problem, loud noise exposure or acoustic trauma, head injury, neck injury, neck muscle problems, hearing loss, Meniere's, barotrauma from flight, grief for the loss of love ones, untreated sleep apnea, elevated stress, anxiety & panic disorder, etc. See if you have any issue with the above. If you find the cause of the spiking T, it may be easier to treat the root cause of it. Saying that, stress and anxiety are bad for T. So try to stay calm in the meantime to prevent T from getting worse. Have you tried anything to mask your T yet? Take care & God bless.
