Hey people,

I have an infection in my jaw by the nerve ending of a molar tooth.
I'm worried for the lidocaine but something has to be done.
He gave me 3 option.
-Root canal
-Tooth extraction with a fake tooth connected to the other teeth.
-Or an implant. Which is very expensive

Has anyone had any trouble with the lidocaine?
I'm worried cause all 3 options need lidocaine and messing with your jaw and nerves.
What would you do?

Hello Lynne ! Same problem here. I have a tooth with 3 root canals on it and it keeps infecting every 5 months. I am tired so I am thinking on getting it removed. My dentist has told me to try a last root canal.

What do you decided ? Additionally, for your teeth intection, what did you take ? Did you take antibiotic ? I am resisting but i am worst every day. I will try echinacea and if it not works by tomorrow night will start with antibiotic.

Implant. It's expensive but root canals usually give out after 30 years, so you would have to get one anyways.

No problems with the lidociane.

But...a failed implant is more common than people realize. It may last for a few years but they do have a high failure rate despite what the specialists imply. They make big bucks and usually will push the patient for that procedure. An implant cannot be extracted like a real tooth. The device has to be chisled out of your jaw bone.

This is a hard choice to make. For me after a failed implant (three years) I decided to to nothing because I had too much jaw bone damage. Long story very short.

Your natural teeth tend to shift over time and the implant will not shift with the other teeth. So you must have it looked after at least twice a year.

Which molar is it?

Lower front implant worked good for me. If your tooth is loose probably the best choice. Well actually the dentist broke off the screw the first time as he over torqued it. The 2nd one was colored better to match rather than being so white. Oral surgeon drilling was a bit tough to go through even though it was numbed up really good. I don't recall how it affected my tinnitus.

Tooth extraction would be a good temporary solution. For me the extraction and drilling was done at the same visit.

I decided to have an extraction. It's now almost 2 weeks since it was taken out.
I've red a lot about root canals and there are a growing number of dentist an doctors like cardiologist who claim that root canal could be dangerous.
And that implants made of zirconium are better than Titanium.
The first day of my extraction the T was louder than normal. But the week after that it was strangely very quiet.
I had some heart palpitations from the lidocaine I think.
In a couple of months I'm going to get a permanent bridge.
@ Amv
Anti biotics don't work when the root of a tooth or molar is infected.

@Lynne78 hello! How are you doing? I have visited two dentists, the one that has given me the most confidence has suggested me a tooth extraction also.

You had the implant put in in the same session? Or just the tooth extraction? Is your T still low?

I have unilateral T from loud sounds, and on my T side I also have this bad teeth. Since the last dentist visit (drill was not loud) he cleaned the T and liberated pressure on the teeth, my T has been lower, I believe bad teeth can increase T volume or weaken that side, so I think the right treatment can help me a bit.

Thank you and hope to hear your progress :)
