Hi, I'm Michelle, and I joined recently. I really do not know how to use this site, search, or figure out how to navigate it effectively.
I think I have always had mild tinnitus on and off throughout most of my life. I am 44 now, but something seems to have changed in my brain and/or ears. I am experiencing tinnitus that feels like it is destroying my life and causing severe anxiety.
I get a strange sensation in both ears, like fluid and pressure or air shooting through them, accompanied by a dreadful feeling of anxiety. This is often followed by high-pitched ringing. It happens randomly, day or night.
I also have buzzing that sounds like electrical wires, hissing, and almost static-like tinnitus. This double-ear sensation started around September or October 2024.
I have been on and off many medications. At first, I thought it might be middle ear myoclonus, but I am not sure because I also experience thumping and inner ear spasm sensations. Right now, I am only taking 2.5 mg of Lexapro daily. I was advised that Carbamazepine and Baclofen were not ideal for me.
Does anyone know what might be going on? I know it is tinnitus, but the sensations in my ears are very scary.
Thank you!
