Cause of Tinnitus

I have been to ENT and a bunch of lab work. Ruled out Lyme disease and hypothyroidism. Hearing test OK. Tried chiropractor because of horrible back pain. Also suffering from tiredness. Have stopped Timolol eye drops which have side effect of tinnitus on advice of eye doctor. ENT wants me to get MRI but that will cost me $1500 out of pocket. I still wonder if it is all perimenopause. Other thought is fibromyalgia. Tired of looking like a hypochondriac but as I type this my ears are screeching. Have primary care doc appt Tuesday.

Need alternatives, advice or relief!

HI @LisaB

Many things can cause tinnitus although the most common is exposure to loud noise. Typically, it is using headphones for long durations and at too high a volume. Attending clubs or concerts where sound levels tend to be high is another cause.

If your tinnitus wasn't noise induced, then it's important to have tests to find the cause. Please click on the links below that you might find helpful.

I wish you well.
