Noise exposure (most likely)
I am starting to suspect my ear drum itself plays a role in the severity of my tinnitus.

I say that because they are sensitive to the suction created by earplugs (foam or silicone) and can feel them vibrate to certain sounds like clapping or sharp ones like cutlery.

Also, I recently went to have an ear canal impression (mold?) for custom ear plugs and when I had the filler material pushed in and taken out my left ear drum hurt. Right ear without pain. That was on Monday. Next day I got a delayed spike that hasn't completely subsided yet.

ENTs said no ear drum damage, no wax. I don't have ETD. I wouldn't say I have hyperacusis, but rather slight phonophobia.

Does anyone else think their ear drums are a factor in their tinnitus?
