Hello,

I am currently at a vacation and I would like to know that is is it safe to be at clothes stores for example H&M, uniqlo etc.

Today I was at a shopping centre and I got stressed that my tinnitus would become worse so I used earplugs and noise cancelling headphones.

When we went eating I took the earplugs off. We were at the shopping centre for almost two hours, and at home I noticed that I did not insert the earplugs correctly after we had eaten. So can I get an increase on my tinnitus? Now my tinnitus does not sound louder.

My family went swimming now, can I go?

What I notice for myself is that any increase in tinnitus as a result of a noisy situation such as a mall or a restaurant is temporary. I wouldn't be too concerned. As far as swimming, I find that being in the water helps me forget that I have tinnitus. Just wish I could go more often! Have fun.

What is the fucking point. I think my T is now permanent I can't have fun anymore. I can't even go to the mall, what the hell.

Don't panic.

What you are describing is a common experience of most of us here at some point.

My t can be reactive (which I think is part of having h). I would be avoiding ear plugs and muffs for fear of worsening/developing h. Do you have sound sensitivity?

You can still have fun. You just need to be sensible about ear protection without over protecting your ears.

Download a sound app on your phone. That can give you an idea about the levels of noise you are being exposed to.

I believe acrn is helpful for tonal tinnitus. What are you hearing?

Or you could consider using audionotch

You sound new to t. Expect that you will need some patience to adjust, but you will if it doesn't resolve completely. Many of us, including myself, have habituated to t. Your life isn't over. Hang in there.
