Cause of Tinnitus
Infection and earphone use
Hello friends, it has been a while. I recently had my blood pressure checked just on the off chance because I was passing the pharmacy. As it turned out it was a good job I called in that day because my BP was 200 / 100 something! Doctor said I was lucky I had not had a stroke or heart attack.

Anyway, the thing is, since I have been taking medication to lower my BP my tinnitus has dropped massively and on some days has gone completely!

I thought the meds would make the T worse but nope.

I am taking Felodipine and Ramipril.

I asked the Dr to give me the tablet which was least likely to cause T and that is what I got.

In any case my BP was so high I simply HAD to take the tablets.

So, perhaps my T is linked to my extremely high BP. Or it could be a fluke. Who knows.

So that is my update. It has now been one full year since my T started. In the beginning I wanted to die. I really did. Only my wife saved me.

These days I have learned to live with the T when it is bad. And when it is bad it is seriously BAD.

I hope this is the start of recovery for me.

I wish you all the very best friends. Keep going. Do not give up.

That sounds like very good news all round! I am pleased for you.
Can you describe what your tinnitus was like? Did it pulsate? Or woosh in time with your heartbeat? I only ask because I know pulsating tinnitus can be caused by high blood pressure.
I have pulsating tinnitus in both ears. 11 months now for me. But so far no cause has been found. I too wondered if it was blood pressure but that seems to have checked out ok for me.

Hi, yes at night my tinnitus did make a pulsating sound and was extremely high pitched. One night in particular my ears woke me with a massive pulsating ,squelching noise .Other times it was a constant high pitched scream in one ear or both or the back of my head. So loud I could hear it over a military jet screaming overhead really low.I was suicidal. It never stopped other than the odd few hours .Until now really .I hope it will stay away now . Some days it is gone others I hear it faintly in the head. However it is far ,far better.
Good luck ! .I will keep posting any updates.

Hello friends. Just an update on my condition in the hope it may help someone and give them hope.
I got very severe ,almost catastrophic tinnitus about two years ago . Many times I was suicidle .I really did want to die because it was so loud and literally intolerable. My life was destroyed.
Well, today things are very different. My T has vastly improved . I have many weeks where it is actually gone completely. At other times it is back but is very quiet .I get only the odd day where it is very loud but I can cope now because it always goes away .I am so much happier.
I have discovered my T is definitely caused by jaw clamping in sleep. That and I believe sugar.
A good sleep helps a lot. Relaxation helps a lot.Trying not to worry helps a lot ,but I know that is hard to do.
I honestly believe my T might be fully cured this year at some point.
So, if I can improve perhaps you can . Do not give up.Keep going.I wish you all the very best and I hope you all get better soon !

First you said it was due to High BP..Now you say it is due to Jaw clamping.Which one is correct?

I'm also curious how diet factors in, since you mentioned sugar. What effect does sugar have? How do you know it had that effect?

I'm trying to optimize my diet, which is why I ask. Thanks in advance!
