Hello everyone, and Happy New Year!

About a week ago, I started paying much more attention to certain environmental noises that irritate me and seem louder than before. These include passing cars, the noise from the boiler or refrigerator, PC fans, and similar sounds.

While these noises don't cause me pain or significant discomfort, they sometimes trigger intense anxiety attacks. This happens because I worry that the sounds I hear might turn into tinnitus—though, thankfully, that hasn't actually occurred.

A week prior to this situation, I suddenly started hearing rhythmic noises in my ears, but they only lasted for a day.

Now, I'm afraid of becoming fixated on these noises and struggling to handle everyday life. I've had tinnitus since 2018, but it hasn't been an issue for several years.

Has anyone experienced something similar?

Nothing will happen, don't worry. Keep protecting yourself and listen to your body. Avoid exposure to sounds over 75 dB or so, and try not to use any medication if possible.

Sending hugs—you will be okay.
