Hey guys,

on Thursday (4/19/18) I woke up in the middle of the night with a ringing in my ear. I went to my doctor he performed a ear exam. He said that it was hard to look inside my right ear because of the amount of earwax that I had. He said everything would be fine and didnt speak about any earwax removing procedures.

I read online that earwax build up could cause ringing in the ear. I then learned about syringing earwax. I read that syringing could help and get rid of the ringing in the ear, but it could also make the ringing worse and even permanent.

I wanted your guys opinion on whether I should go through with this procedure or if it would be too much of a risk.

Its unlikely to make it worse if professional ENT doctor does it. Earwax is there for a reason, its additional layer of ear protection. Too much of it can cause blockade of the ear canal, resulting in decreased hearing, resulting in tinnitus.

If done professionally, there is nothing to worry about. Call your ENT and request from him to schedule appointment to clear the earwax. Chances are pretty good that it will help. Your doc is probably giving T a grace period. 99 percent of the times, tinnitus leaves by itself within 8 weeks. I doubt he didnt think about cleaning the ear canal, just thinks its best to wait and see, since it could be some small-time infection of Eustachian or something that immunity system kills by itself within a week or two. Anyway, call him and raise this procedure.

Try ear wax drops or olive oil to soften any crusted wax before wax removal .
Love glynis

@Aldo Abarca the common rule around here is to apply ear wax drops for atleast 10 days till it softens up, then you can proceed to syringing, that seems to be the safest way to do it. i also have the same problems as you, ear wax impaction and you still have a good chance that it might go away once the build up is gone.

Just get it done. Make sure you use drops for 2 weeks prior and make sure it is the newer kind of syringe. The type that enables the nurse to control the pressure. You'll be fine.
I had concerns the other week as it was the first time i needed my ear syringed since tinnitus.
Its very easy to be over paranoid with tinnitus. Just make sure to use drops prior and you'll be fine.
