The main problem with tinnitus I believe is not the noise at its current state, it's the mindset I have tinnitus and it's going to increase if I am not careful, you've got to stop going here, stop going there, worry about sirens when walking on the street etc.
It's took very loud, ear damaging noise to develop tinnitus, so I thought it would be the same noise level that would increase tinnitus, but unfortunately all it took was a brief everyday loud noise to increase mine.
It would be a lot easier to overcome tinnitus if you didn't have to worry, if this environment is to loud, this tv is too loud, someone slamming a door, these things don't cause damage to your hearing, but you worry it will increase your tinnitus, it makes it very hard to live a normal life.
The good news for me is I am getting used to a recent increase in tinnitus, the anxiety is gone, the depression is leaving, I am getting better, BUT.....I am still restricted by everyday loud noises, example I was driving my car to the shops today, being Christmas the roads were jammed full of cars and a police car went past, luckily I was stationary so I stuck my fingers in my ears, couldn't of done that if I was moving. Stuff like that constantly makes it very hard to forget about tinnitus, to lead a normal life, I wish it took the same level of noise that caused my tinnitus, to increase it.
That is the problem!
