Cause of Tinnitus
Stress
Hi!

Here is my story. 7 months ago I got disturbing eye floaters, dark ones. I had anxiety about this and still have. To control this anxiety I tried one evening an Antidepressant. That night I heard noise in my right ear. Loud enough to get distracted and had one week severe anxiety from that. I thought it came from the AD and I Stopped immediately. I went to the doctor after 1 week. He checked my ears but nothing wrong. He gave me sulpiride. I was afraid to take it so I didn't. After another 3 weeks my tinnitus was gone. I think after 2 weeks I didn't care anymore. I went to sleep but I didn't let the T influence my mind and sleep. The thing was: the T I had was very variable. Sometimes loud, sometimes very quiet. But it went completely away.

Until a month ago. I waked up in the middle of the night and suddenly I heard a high noise in my right ear. The week before I was very anxious so I blamed it on that. But I still have it know. It is not that variable as before but more a constant noise. I try to calm myself down but it is very irritating and difficult to sleep. With my first T is was also, but after resting, the noise was less loud, now it remains the same.

At the moment I am going to an homeopath and the T started a couple of days after I took a dose Phosphorus. I don't know it has anything to do with it. I also go to an osteopath. I hope he can help me a bit.

I am planning to go to the doctor. The previous blood results indicated quite a low level of B12. Want to,know it has anything to do with it.

Anyone with similiar experiences? Tips and advise are welcome!

Welcome to the forum. It is said that anxiety and stress are bad for T. So try your best to stay calm and positive as humanly possible as you can. B12 is one of the supplements often recommended to help the ears. If you are proven to lack that, then it doesn't hurt to get some B12. Also consider NAC, Magnesium, Zinc, D3 etc.

You may want to do masking if this new level of T irritates you. Here are some suggestions if you haven't masked yet. God bless.

1) Mask at bed time so you can sleep better. Find whatever sounds/music that are soothing to you. You can use a sound machine or sound pillow for this, or a computer with speakers.

2) If you need masking on the go, try load an ipod with nature sounds or music using itune. If you have a smart phone, you can download free APPs for soothing or T-masking sounds.

3) If you have computer and speakers, you can try these excellent masking sounds too:

TT's audio player: https://www.tinnitustalk.com/audioplayer/

or this online sound library, particularly the self-mix nature sounds: http://mynoise.net/

or download free sound generator 'aire freshener': http://www.peterhirschberg.com/mysoftware.html

or search youtube with words like 'tinnitus masking sounds', 'white noise', 'rain sound' etc.

And if you need DIY notched Acoustic Coordinated Reset Neuromodulation (ACRN):

(please be careful and research the pro and con on ACRN before proceeding with caution)

Thank you very much for the tips!
Last night the T I had was less loud...I hope it will continue to improve :) I just try not to focus on it.

But at moments I have ear pain and yesterday I was dizzy sometimes. Hope it is just the anxiety. Good thing was, when I wass dizzy and tired, my floaters bothered me less :)

Today I am going to the doctor.

Hi @billie48,
Thanks for your excellent post & advice.
Can you please clarify what you mean when you advise to be careful and and research the pros and cons of ACRN before proceeding with caution?
I researched this topic and only found the pros or successes in using this treatment modality. Is there a potential risk/harm/downside whereby it can worsen or aggravate T?

That may be so that there are mostly pros. But not all members get the positives from it. Here is one who feels ACRN makes his T worst. However, just like any medicine, it helps most but there is also some with allergic reaction. If you think ACRN will help you, go for it.
