Cause of Tinnitus
Q-tipping
I had lost hearing in my left ear after an allergy attack and tried to use a Q-tip to clear my ear but in doing so I ended up poking my eardrum causing pain and eventually tinnitus.

I went to my GP and he said I had a blocked eustachian tube and prescribed me antibiotics and nasal steroids to clear it up. Eventually the retracted eardrum/ETD returned to normal, but the tinnitus remains causing me anxiety and sleeplessness.

I'm 3 months in and wondering if it will ever go away. Some days are quieter than others thankfully but the fluctuating hissing/ringing sound has never gone silent for any length of time.

I'm sorry that you are continuing to have tinnitus. I am also 3 months in with tinnitus and hyperacusis from an acoustic trauma. Hopefully you will start to feel better soon.
