Tinnitus from Ear Wax Removal

Hello, please has anyone got tinnitus from ear wax removal ? Doctor removed cerumen with a curette, it was was painful and from that day I have very bad tinnitus. The other ENT sad that it is impossible, they don't believe me. Please help me?

Unless they hit the eardrum it really doesn't make sense?Did you have Tinnitus while the wax was in your ear?Do you have an ear infection and do you have any hearing loss?

I din' t had tinitus before. No infection or hearing loss. I am feeling fulness in my ear from that day and very bad tinnitus. I cant work , I am missereble. It is 8 weeks now. Thank you for your replie

I've heard from some that they have had there ears syringed to clear earwax and that they got tinnitus from this method. but I would say this with scepticism.as for the method which you had I can't comment on.

It's very unlikely that the cleaning had anything to do with your tinnitus The way you had it don'e is the safest way, I have had it done that way many times over the years with no problem. It's the suction method that you have to watch out for.


It should clear up soon, You may have a touch of anxiety from the cleaning.

Thank you... It lasts too long 8 weeks, and it is too loud I cant sleep. It wakes me up. That dr also give me neomycym dexametashone ear that are otoxic. I am very scared, I cant work I cry all the time. Thank you for your support

If you had neomycin, then maybe that's the cause, and not the cleaning?

I have no idea why your doctor gave you "neomycin" ? it sure was not necessary, and I don't know if it's otoxic or not, but even if it was, it's very unlikely that one dose should not cause any permanent damage, most otoxic drugs work their way out of the system over time and the tinnitus goes back down. If you have any increase in your tinnitus it was NOT from the way you had your ears cleaned. Sorry I just don't buy that. You could be magnifying your tinnitus because you Think that it got worse from the cleaning, and the anxiety is running with it. Do you have OCD ?

Try and relax and take it easy, and keep busy that always helps...I really think that in time you will be ok, hang in there and try and think about something else.

Hi, Dynne. I got my T from an ear irrigation. Now that I think back, the T wasn't that bad then, but my anxiety made it really much worse. It got worse overtime and better again. Now it's kind of stuck with temporary spikes. It should give you a relief. Try to follow a healthy diet, do some exercise like yoga and be patient. We've all had our bad times, but it can get better.

I was just wondering how you're doing a year on?

I got tinnitus from wax extraction via suction, it also caused hearing loss and hyperacusis. I still have T and H and I am trying to deal with it. Like you, it has made me very upset. I wish you luck.
