Hello everyone,

I created an account on Tinnitus Talk to learn more about tinnitus and to read the success stories of others.

I've had mild tinnitus since 2021. I believe it might be caused by acid reflux, but I'm not entirely sure. It's only in my left ear. I feel fortunate that my tinnitus is mild and doesn't affect my social life or overall enjoyment of life.

Even though it has remained mild for years, I still feel anxious about the possibility of it getting worse.

Here are some of the things I'm doing to try to improve what might be acid reflux-related tinnitus (if improvement is even possible):
  • Starting today, I'm cutting out coffee.
  • Taking Vitamin D, since I was diagnosed with a deficiency years ago.
  • Wearing a mouthguard at night, as I tend to clench my jaw while sleeping.
  • Continuing to avoid taking Pepto-Bismol.
In the past, my tinnitus became louder for a short period. I believe this was related to my diet and possibly my frequent use of Pepto-Bismol.

Today, I'm focusing on all the things I'm grateful for in life, which helps make my tinnitus feel like less of an issue.

Thank you for reading!

By the way, the survey required during registration, especially the questions about the podcast, was a bit off-putting.

Welcome to the forum. Your statement above highlights one of the most effective strategies for coping with the challenges of tinnitus. It's a strategy I use all the time to help me live a more normal life, despite having jet-engine-like tinnitus in my left ear (which is completely deaf) and dentist-drill-like tinnitus in my right ear.

Focusing on the things we're grateful for is so important; it helps bring balance to life and makes tinnitus feel more manageable.
