Hi. I've had tinittus in my left ear for 2 years now. Only in my left ear. It has been seeming louder. I have seen a ent and had MRI. And nothing was found. Is there anyone else out there with it only in one ear? Lately I have been having jaw pain also. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!

@Sonya The most common cause of tinnitus is exposure to loud noise. Do you listen to music through headphones regularly? Do you attend clubs, concerts where loud music is played? If you do this might be the reason the tinnius has increased.

Hi Sonya,

Welcome to the site.

There is a correlation between jaw pain (TMJ) and tinnitus. If you have yet to do so, go see your dentist. If he/she knows little to nothing about it or does not give you a satisfactory answer, ask them to send you to an oral surgeon for a consultation.

And yes, I only have tinnitus in my left ear.

Hang in there! You will be alright! :)

left ear only for me too, thats the side my drummer was on,damn that snare drum, needless to say I play acoustic solo now,K.C

I have it only in my left ear as well. Was caused by short (a few minutes) but loud noise exposure through headphones. However no hearing loss was detected, and everything is pretty much fine except for the T. At least it's relatively quiet.

You know it makes me wonder - is the left ear generally more vulnerable to hearing loss or tinnitus, and if yes, why?

Same here - left only - although my right ear joins in from time to time. Are there any right onlies out there?

Happened the same to me went to doctors and neurologist. They did a hear test, MRI, x-ray etc. They found a little bit of inflammation near the jaw but nothing that could explain it. 4-6 weeks have been in neurofeedback and has been helpful. A week they change the protocol to address more my left side. If you google tinnitus in left ear and neurofeedback you can read info. They say it can be that the auditory area in the brain (temporal lobe) up near your ear can perceive something is wrong and can create change in brain waves etc. NF helps to regulate the brain wave. Has been helping me to focus , concentrate better etc. Hope you could find some peaceful moments.
