Music, prescription drugs
Hello,

First off, this forum has already given me so much. I will spare some details about the years 2010-now, but I was a musician, concert goer, and I had a reaction to Locinipral for blood pressure that led to 4 months of vertigo, after which I noticed low level T mostly right ear.

Fast forward to about 4 weeks ago, and I began to notice more noise. Then around that time I went to a concert, and the T went up. Also around that time I began feeling strange, and confused.

About 3 weeks later, I had an infection on the left side of my head that I felt in the roof of my mouth, breakouts on my head, and I had a weird earache when swallowing drinks, especially tart ones. And then one day the T was about 6 and in left ear. Man how I would give for the days of right ear only! I had another prescription for an anti-biotic, so I started that, then saw an ENT. Hearing test showed loss of frequency in left ear. Was prescribed Prendisone on a taper. That is over, and no change. He said he would try an injection if there was no improvement after 2 weeks. I am seeing another ENT who seems more of a T expert in about 2 weeks. I still have occasional ear ache, especially taking drinks.

I am wondering about my future, but I will keep reading the forum for your words of wisdom. I know I have options, life is not over, but it sure looks it could be hard-going. I remind myself of people with worse afflictions, say cancer, ALS, MS.

Cheers

Well, I don't have any expert advice for you. Just the usual stuff that you have probably seen before. Try to keep busy and this will take your mind off the ringing as much as possible. Try to use a sound machine/fan to sleep because that is most likely preferable to sleeping in a silent room.

The reality is that everybody's tinnitus is different. It is possible that yours will fade away over time. Keep in mind that the people who have success with tinnitus are people who are generally not posting on websites like this due to the fact that they give so little thought to their tinnitus. This could be helpful to remember.

Hang in there and as I said do everything to avoid sitting in a silent room and focusing on the ringing sound. The more you focus on it the more noticeable it will be.

Lastly, try to take things one day at a time. Looking out and thinking "how will I survive this for the rest of my life" will only produce anxiety which will increase your perception of the tinnitus.
