I had a bowl of trail mix last night before bed with a glass of milk just like old times. -- Bad idea.

Big spike since. -- I think the M&Ms and raisins made my T worse because of all the sugar. -- The big glass of milk didn't help either.

I ate a light breakfast and plan to go for a run to get back down to a manageable level.

I'm happy that I can sleep since the worst of my T anxiety is gone, however, T is still a monkey on my back that I would love to get rid of..

There are a few trail mixes that I have felt made my T worse as well. I think the dried fruit has a lot of sugar. I occasionally enjoy them anyway

That looks like a recipe for instant ADHD. Depending on the manufacturer they sometimes also use sugar in the dried fruits. For me a muesli, no added sugar with soya yogurt or greek yogurt would do a lot better

Sugar in the dried fruits. Lots of fake stuff in the M & Ms (sorry, it's true! :) ).

I'll bet you could do THIS though: Get thee to a Trader Joe's or health store, buy separate bags of organic unsalted nuts, good raisins without added sugar, and a couple of organic, Fair Trade (just nice to do), 70%-or-higher-cocoa-content dark chocolate bars. Chop those bars into tiny pieces and then combine it all.

Voila! HEALTHY trail mix. And maybe down it with a glass of ice cold almond milk to avoid the dairy factor.

Bet you'll like your @John Meyers version of trail mix better than the store's! And feel better too! :)

I agree Steve. I will just stay away from the processed crap.

This T is forcing me to get healthy!!! :)

Yoooo John, I am keeping an eye on you!

We need to control our blood sugar :)

In addition, limit dairy products, for some they cause gut inflammation.

Ha ha. Thanks Joe.

My wife is always on my ass about drinking too much milk. -- I am down from 3 to 1 glass a day. I was drinking about 2 gallons of milk per week before my T, so progress! :)

@joseph Ghass

whats your take on wine? I know it spikes blood sugar and shouldn't be a regular indulgence - but are you tee-totaling in your program? Ever cut loose on a Friday?

I gave up milk, my sinus issues stopped over nite. I miss it though. I wonder if coconut milk is ok, I'm not sure.

Yes, dairy is not good for the body. And think about this: What is "milk" as we know it? It is a liquid produced BY cows FOR baby cows.

Why do WE drink it???? It's a myth foisted on us by advertisers and the dairy industry. We don't need it. Human babies need human mother's milk. Young children can get protein in other ways.

Unless you have a problem with coconut, then coconut milk should be okay. Ditto with almond milk, etc. (Though soy milk may be problematic, and if you DO choose to drink it, be sure to get organic soy.)

The milks produced by coconut, almonds, etc. do not have the congestive results of the cow's milk (which is an animal product).

And since I'm on my little sparkly soapbox here, please indulge me in just one more thing: The dairy industry is rife with cruelty. Even the organic production of cow's milk. These are sentient feeling beings. What this industry does is artificially remove sperm from the bulls (if any of you gentlemen want to really cringe, just look up how) and then they artificially insert it into the females. After the calves are born, they yank them from their mothers (so that the milk production can commence for HUMANS), and they put many of the calves into tiny crates where they purposely make the calves become anemic so that their flesh is whitened for the ultimate fate THEY get - to become "veal." The mother cows bellow and wail, to no avail, for their stolen babies. They really do.

I became vegetarian (well, disclaimer: I still eat a little fish) over ten years ago. It is only last summer that I learned the above, about dairy production, and I gave up all dairy on the spot. It's been a bit of an adjustment, as I used to suck down the yogurt and cheese. But it's fine, and it's worth it.

I'm putting the info here just because it's flowing out of me in words. If it moves anyone, well then, cool.

Check out a site called The Gentle Barn.

this is such a ridiculous argument. none of the food we eat is produced for the sole purpose of us eating it. a cow's femur is for a cow to walk on, not for a pit bull to chew. - same logic

Some nuts, a bit of chocolate and a glass of milk can make T worse or spike!?!? Wtf, I think I've heard it all. I guess at this point everything under the sun makes T worse. What do you normally eat? Straight diet of lettuce and water?

Wtf is trail mix?
I didn't identify the picture with my idea of trail mix. If I go into a store in the UK trail mix is a bag of nuts and raisins - energy food for trail walking. The mass of sugar and e numbers in the picture would sustain you for a 2 mile burst, after that you would hit a sugar dip and need a nap :)

Controlling blood sugar spikes in your blood helps tinnitus. The best way to do it is to fast and follow a low carbs diet.

You just eat a high Fat diet.

Yes Telis. -- Sugar, salt, milk, coffee all make my T spike. -- Try finding something without salt or sugar in it. Pretty much impossible.

I agree Steve. The "trail mix" I ate was from Costco and total crap.

I am going to get more natural trail mix moving forward. :)

If you don't think about it or let it bother you, eating whatever you want when you want regardless of a spike is not that big of a deal. Spikes may aggravate you but cannot harm you. If you think something is going to spike your T, it probably will. In more instances that not, your own mind is causing the spike, not necessarily the food in question.
