Hi,
Although I had tinnitus for a long time, it is only now on the worsening of the condition due to (flu?dental work?posture at work?hearing loss?) that I am trying to investigate this. The amount of information read on this website also gave me hope that we are getting closer to solve this puzzle one way or the other.
My tinnitus is mostly in the left ear and changes when I lie down on one ear or the other...also changes slightly moving the jaw... weird.
So far I have
- been going to the chiropractor and while it got worse for the first 1-2 days now it feels slightly better - she also gave me gingko biloba but it doesn't seem to produce any noticeable effect.
- cut on alcohol as it made it worse (but easier to fall asleep
)
- booked a dentist appointment to check my bite (I think I have been grinding recently - it could be the stress or the bite is off after the dental work).
my main action point was (as per the subject of this thread) to book an appointment with a regular ENT to get an audiogram. reading this forum I was advised to get the full range audiogram, not just the one for speech frequency.
instead, they only tested up to 8 KHz. To my insistance, the doctor told me that "it doesn't matter" twice, and that nobody in the city does this extended test.
I doubt this and I wrote to the main university audiological clinic to hear if they have better facilities or what do they advise. so, fellow tinnitus fighters, what I am asking you is...what did you do to get your doctor to stop pushing you back? I mean, it's not like I asked for off-label experimental drugs...
