Cause of Tinnitus

hello, my name is Jenny. I am 14 years old female and I've had this ringing in (my right ear, I'm pretty sure) my ears for the past 7 years. I don't remember being anywhere with loud noises. I remember in 3rd grade when I first mentioned it to my mom, it was extremely loud and she took me to the doctors. They used this gun like thing to spray water in my ears and after that earwax came out. The sound of the ringing decreased after that but it was still there. I haven't been thinking about it after that afterwards until now.

Last week, I woke up one night being completely bothered by the ringing. I can also sometimes hear my own heart beating. The noise isn't that loud and it's only there when it's pretty quiet. But it's high-pitched and super annoying.

Of course, being an over thinker, I started to panic and think that's I'm going crazy. I feel like no matter what treatment there is, the ringing is never going to go away. I mean, I've had it for the past 7 years so I think there are some major damage done in my ears.

Ahh I'm so scared!! I'm going to the doctors again tomorrow but I'm just scared and worried.

What if the noise is never going away?

What if I have to be stuck hearing this ringing for the rest of my life?

And that this is only going to get worse as I get older and I'm going to get hearing loss?

my situation is similar than you, I start ringing from 12 years old, see lots of famous doctors, they said there is nothing wrong with me... I am 22 years old right now, one thing I can certain is it will get worse by older and older, if it will company with your whole life, just be positive, enjoy life, don't worry too much, it really doesn't help

Hope everyone is having a good day!

So to give some information about my tinnitus, I've had it since I was 7 and I'm almost 15 now and I still have it.

When I first got it, the noise was so loud. It was a buildup of earwax and after the doctors took care of it, the noise reduced to a level where I was able to ignore it for the next 6 years or so.

But one night last month, I suddenly woke up being completely aware and bothered of the ringing. It's super high pitched which is really annoying. I can't hear it unless I'm in an almost silent room, but once I pay attention to it, it gets bad.

Being an overthinker also doesn't help as it gives me extreme anxiety over this. I try to listen to white noise / rain sounds to help mask the ringing when I sleep.

A few days later, I'm back at the doctors and apparently I had a lot of earwax in both of my ears again. They tried to flush the earwax out but only some came out but the noise level went down a bit. I'm now on vacation and my hotel faces a busy street. The background noises outside sometimes mask the ringing but I also listen to rain noises on Spotify to add on.

I literally forgot that I had tinnitus for a few days but then there it is again. I turned the volume of the rain sound slightly louder so I could ignore the ringing which worked. But every night, I find myself having to turn the volume up by a tiny bit more than the night before because the noise is getting louder again. Maybe it is the stress / anxiety that contributes to this whole thing. Maybe it's they are what's making my tinnitus worse. But it's really hard because I'm a very anxious person in general and I tend to scare myself easily.

I'm going to the doctors again when I return back home and hopefully they can get this sorted out again. Idk what's happening, but I hope that the tinnitus is only caused by a buildup of earwax and most of the unnecessary earwax comes out. I'm now putting a drop of mineral oil in my ear every night to hopefully soften the earwax and have it eventually fall out by itself. I'm on day 6 now but so far nothing has happened yet.

Sorry if this was super long to read and I made some grammatical issues. But this is basically the new updates to my tinnitus and I hope everyone take care and have a wonderful day / night <3

You need to use the mineral oil 3 times a day for 7-14 days before asking a doctor to use manual tools (not microsuction) to remove the wax from your ears.
