Tinnitus Since
Last week.
Hello everyone! I haven't been on much since I've got back to virginia.

Went to john hopkins and was told no more fluid, but that everything I describe sounds like ETD, I'm going to be on a nose spray for about 8 weeks before other treatment will be used ( tubes, incision)

Now I caught a cold..
Which has got me feeling all kinds of weird. My ears feel weird not so much of a pressure but a pressure behind my ears ( make sense?) pressure around my cheek bones ( sinus?) t is the same ( constant change though during the day:/ but ugh the pressure under my eyes has bothered me seemed worse after using my nasal spray tonigt..
My neck hurts really bad too...guessing Lymp nodes? I just have a sore throat, burning eyes jus your typical cold I believe. Scared this is going to make my ETD worse..
Should I be worried? I took a sudafed in case I am so scared to have a lot of mucus getting stuck in my Eustachian tube..

My anxiety feels worse about being sick

A cold is always difficult when you have T. What I would suggest is keep your airways clear. Sudafed is good. I would also inhale menthol crystals, that is a good way to keep your sinuses clear. Coffee is also a good thing to inhale. Hopefully that should stop your T from getting worse

T wise do you feel like your gettin pretty use to it yet?
Kind of :/ I mean it sucks ass I hear it in really quiet rooms..it always is a bit louder at night. I just tell myself I saw a good dr at john hopkins he looked in my ear with this camera thing he saw and even showed me how there was no damage in my ear my bones in the ear were fine and etc. So I keep telling myself maybe the t will fade..I hope it does.
Ugh it's depressing for me to come to terms that it may never go away. I honestly have NOOO idea what could have causes me to get t.

Thank you! I will try those crystal things.

I know it sucks but honestly the best thing to do is just accept it and just know in the back of your mind that it is the 21st century and that this will get better curewise or good treatments soon. Unfortunently people get T for no reason.. Or from just a cold in general..i had bad noise exposure and doc said my ear looked good too then again i have the ringing still so somethings not right but it is what it is i guess.. Could be alot worse like mega T or something.
But yeah your T could fade.. Is yours like noticeable if say your outside or is it mostly just in quiet rooms.. And can you hear it above the tv?

its mostly bad in quiet places, only a few times could I really notice it outside. The dr doesn't want to diagnose me with t because he seriously thinks it will go away ( not sure) trying to believe in him a little since he's from john hopkins #1 hospital in all of u.s but i don't know..he says he can tell for sure it's ETD:/ that it can take weeks for it to go away. He is giving me 8 weeks before he wants to look at tubes for a week in my ear or e tube dialation

Cure wise...do you really think they will find a cure for us? I really do...I really do..

Very few things are ever "cured". While I think there will eventually be one, what I think is very close is an actual treatment that greatly reduces the severity of tinnitus.

So no real cure? Just something like TRT basically?

No, not like TRT. A "cure" implies fixing the root cause and eliminating all the noise. I think that's a little ways off still. What I do think is within reach, i.e. the next few years, is a meaningful treatment that greatly reduces the noise and by extension, the suffering associated with it. I think there are many research projects that show promise, even for "chronic" cases. AM-101, while supposedly only for acute cases, may even prove to have benefit for some people that fit in the chronic category, we just don't know.

I think Autifony shows some promise, but we have no idea about the efficacy of that yet, and anything else is just speculation.

Genvec will be starting some trials for the safety of their hair cell regeneration program in humans. That's flipping huge. A large majority of sensorineural hearing loss cases are due to hair cell death. Fix that, and you will fix tinnitus (I say this because there is a lot of anecdotal evidence that stimulating the auditory system with sound, even after along time, can ameliorate a lot of tinnitus. It has been shown in a lot of cases where people receive a cochlear implant).

I was talkin to my friend and she knows some girl whos like real

an absoulte cure? Your around my age im guessin so id say the time were in our 40s maybe 50s which isnt so bad! But the time we hit our 30s like 35 or who knows maybe before then i think there will be a goodass treatment that will definally reduce the suffering part and honestly i think we all have it in us at this point to live with "some" noise in our ears even if it is only in the quiet we hear it.. That sounds like a cure to mee :) but dont worry there workin on it and millions of people have T to every severity there is and its gonna be sooner or later that a good treatment will work for ya.. Its like a puzzle that will get solved and whoever solves it first will be one richass mothafuc***!!!!! Lol better to have T now then years and years ago cause back in the days they didnt know shit yet.... Nows the days if a cures gonna happen will definally see a side of it if not all of it ;)
