Years of excessively loud headphone use
I'm looking for something that's 15-30 dB noise reduction. Nothing that protects too much but just enough for normal day situations out and about.

I'm looking for a reusable set and a bulk package of disposable.

Quick off topic question. How do you guys dry your hair? Are plugs effective in protecting the ears from the dryer?

The best earplugs are the ones that fit you properly. The only way to tell is trial and error. For me, I have to buy the largest foam earplugs available (hearos xtreme) because I have large ear canals. They block out about as much as my custom molded max protection earplugs, and they are more comfortable.

Trial and error is the best approach. I bought an assortment early on, but now I have narrowed it down to my favorites.

I have nude-colored and purple foam earplugs that I like for blow drying my hair and some loud places. My preferred plugs are reusable, clear musician earplugs. I like that unlike foam, I do not need to touch the part that is inserted in my ear. If we're at a park or a public venue, it's easy to quickly slip them in place.

I imagine they would be. However, I don't use plugs when using a dryer. I use it on the lower power setting and it makes much less noise. Although, of course, it takes longer. That's OK because being a guy I have a lot less hair to dry than the average woman does.

There's a "low noise hair dryer" on Amazon that has 95% five star reviews. However, It's a bit pricy ($38.00). If that's not an issue, you can check it out:

Hello !

I have both actually, even though I still always use the wax earplugs, because they take exactly the forms of my ears... ;)

Sorry I cannot answer for your other question ! I have not enough hair !

Hi there,

I've been using Deci Damp/Work Safe's white ear plugs (foam) for years, but apparently the manufacturing of these has been terminated. Now I'd need alternatives for those; I'm looking for ear plugs

- comfortable to wear (even for hours)
- not too expensive
- not too visible
- SNR / NNR over 25 dB

Could you help me out; please share your experiences about which excellent ear plugs to choose.

Get custom musician plugs made. They are literally the best thing you can get, and don't effect the fidelity of sound.

Custom made plugs. They spray your ears with foam, it hardens, they take it out, and make a mold. From that, they create transparent small earplugs. I got several kinds, but what worked best for me are those made from a solid chunk of transparent flexible plastic (no fancy filters or anything inside that may break). Don't even remember the price (100£?). Because they have the shape of your ears, and they are made of plastic, they are easy to get in and out.

Another big help have been wearing noise cancelling earplugs. I have a "Sony MDR 1000x" and "Bose QuietComfort 20 Acoustic Noise Cancelling headphones". Both are expensive: around £200. They work great for trains, airplanes, offices, I notice a reduction beyond what I get from normal earphones. I wear the Bose ones in the cinema.

Now can I please go back in time and skip a few concerts so I don't have to bother with any of these?

I taught when you have T is bad to plug your ears , are we talking about filter ear plugs or ear plugs 100% block your ears .

I'm currently testing all 3 of these:

The Mack's are actually a nude color.

I personally like the quiet contour plugs, they are much comfier. I like the purple ones the best because they fit my canal properly and don't feel too big. However if you have wide ear canal I suggest the green ones.

But if you're looking for the best fit and protection, custom is the way to go.

I bought this one to let some noise in , what you think.

There are many types of ear plugs each have there own advantages and disadvantages. I personally like to use reusable ear plugs instead of foam ones you have to throw away. If you use ear plugs every day imo it's better to invest some money and buy decent ones.

Here you can find a comparison of different types of ear plugs: http://sagaert.eu/best-earplugs-protect-hearing-tinnitus/
