What should be prioritized when one has all of the above?

My TTTS gets triggered at about 55dB in my left ear which seems so darn extreme. Seems to be triggered by the frequencies of my tinnitus.

Can´t literally listen to radio even. Although if I totally focus into something else it doesn´t react as much. It is literally neck, behind ear and chin that kind of contracts. Started mostly yesterday.

Any tips regarding this?

Hummm.

Can you explain TTTS a bit more?

how long have you had TTTS?
Well it has been going the last few days.
Basically. Huge T Worsening two days later Hyperacusis, Two days later TTTS :(

Right now i basically can´t listen to music at all with my left ear since anything higher than 45dB makes my muscles totally stiff and T worsens a bit.. :(

Try to not focus on the tinnitus too much @Krolo as this instils stress, anxiety, panic and fear. Having hyperacusis can make things more problematic. If you are not using sound enrichment then I suggest that you do, particularly at night. If I were you I would consider talkng to my doctor as an antidepressant maybe advised. If you haven't started taking the clonazepam yet consider doing so as it can help reduce the tinnitus. This medication can reduce tinnitus significantly for some people as it does for me. I am not suggesting that you take this long term.

My belief is that the symptoms you are experiencing: hyperacusis with tinnitus is all becoming a little too much. Make things easier on yourself and consider the advice that I have given you to help prevent: stress and anxiety becoming worse. Stress can make tinnitus worse and tinnitus makes stress worse. It can become a vicious circle and this needs to be kept in check. Admiriable as it may seem, trying to cope with what you're doing just using will power, this isn't always effective when symptoms become more intense.

Best of luck
Michael

Hi Michael,

I find it super hard to not focus on the T since it is so darn loud, also the H is not making it easier.
I found some notched pink noise today that feels that it actually does calm a bit.
Regarding the Clonazepam I haven´t been using it that much, used antihistamines instead but they don´t seem to be working that much for sleep etc.
Also regarding antidepressants I haven´t seen any here on TT that don´t cause worsening of T?
What are your tips regarding that?

Thank you for your time,
Karel

HI @Krolo

There are people in this forum that advise against taking antidepressants and medication such as clonazepam. This may suit them and that is perfectly fine. However, when tinnitus and hyperacusis are loud and intrusive and this level of intensity is sustained, it can become very difficult for the individual to cope. I have been in a very similar position as you and therefore know what you are going through. It is alright for others to say: medication is harmful and can make tinnitus worse. This is definitely not the case.

I advise you to pursue the options I have suggested to you and that is: talk to your GP/doctor and explain how you feel if, things start to become too much. An anti depressant in some instances can make tinnitus more intrusive for some people, but this is usually temporary. It is all about protecting your mental and emotional wellbeing, because tinnitus when severe can become very debilitating, coupled with hyperacusis can make the situation more dire. Please do not listen to people that don't understand what tinnitus is like when it becomes severe and intrusive and this level of severity is sustained. If they had any understanding of what I am talking about then they wouldn't say the things that they do about medications for tinnitus. When medications are properly managed they help and do not cause harm believe me.
