So I was at football practice today and the coach unexpectedly blew the whistle about two feet from my ear.

There was obviously nothing that could have been done but what I want to know is if stuff like that permanently damages your hearing and if in most cases your tinnitus will increase permanently.

I'm not talking about a temporary spike because that can happen from almost any moderately loud noise even under 85 decibels. I understand that most damage comes from exposure to loud noises for extended periods of time not quick one second bursts of sound unless it is extremely loud.

I have not noticed an increase in the sound of my tinnitus.

This can be a risk. Is it likely to impact your T on the long term? I sincerely do not think so.
You should talk about this to your coach so that does not happen regularly.
