So... I sometimes have these blood pressure spikes reaching 18/11 when I am stressed or my anxiety goes high.

I am kinda in a withdrawal from benzos (tapering off slowly) so this kind of stuff might be expected.

The point is, I don't want to have any risk regarding these high BP episodes and I want to control it with other options besides alprazolam.

I am considering using losartan occasionally, but I saw it in one of these 'meds that gives tinnitus' lists.

What are your experiences on it? Is the tinnitus triggered by BP meds at least reversible?

Cheers!

I might need to start Losartan.

Worried if it can make the tinnitus permanently worse...

Anyone with tinnitus taking Losartan?

I'm holding off starting Losartan as I'm just generally fearful of tinnitus exacerbation. I have no idea, but I was taking Propranolol regularly when my tinnitus started.

Any experiences out there taking Losartan?

I have been taking Losartan 50 mg for the past three months. Initially, I was on 100 mg, but my blood pressure became too low, so I switched to 50 mg. At first, the medication worked well. However, a few weeks ago, my tinnitus became so loud and started clicking to the point that I could no longer sleep and had to stop taking it.

My primary care doctor told me it is rare for this medication to cause or worsen existing tinnitus. The research I have done suggests otherwise. If you already have tinnitus, it appears this medication can exacerbate it over time.

I have also tried Amlodipine, which worked very well for lowering my blood pressure to 120/80. Unfortunately, it caused extreme dizziness and also worsened my tinnitus.

My primary care doctor is still searching for a combination that may work. In the meantime, I continue to struggle through the process while trying to stay positive.

I take 25 mg. My tinnitus actually seems better when I take it... I don't know.
