I just realized some songs don't sound the same to me anymore they sound so different, I think I have actually officially permanently worsened my hearing. :(
snizzleberry
How does the music sound? What happened?
orenge01
@snizzleberry I don't know how to explain it but I guess it's that I don't hear some frequencies anymore. So some songs sound like less lively than before. As I can't hear every element in the song.

How this happened? I was making music for too long at low volume but then accidentally listened at max volume for 1 sec and listening to high end frequencies. But basically I was just really reckless.
Before canceling my CT scan appointment I watched like 10+ videos on Reddit/YouTube how CT scans work. And damn they loud as hell :(
Canceled my CT scan because I can't do it with earplugs or earmuffs. And according to Google it's 70-90 dbs. My limit is 40
Hi. Came across a post where you said 2 weeks in from THC withdrawal tinnitus started and eye floaters. I am having the same experience. Did you ever find out the reasoning and did it ever improve for you? Thanks! Take care!
My molar became abscessed. In a very bad situation, I will probably have my tooth pulled. I don't want my doctor to prescribe ototoxic medication. Can you give antibiotic advice?
kingsfan
I've taken Doxycycline without any issue. It was either take it or potentially lose vision in my eye.

Amoxicillin is not ototoxic it is a safe antibiotic to take from the dentist don't worry about it . Worrying about it will exacerbate the Tinnitus before amoxicillin will .

@Lipshitz I did a lot of research on the forum. Everyone agrees on this. Yes, the most important thing is to stay away from stress. Thanks.
I am so angry. Some stupid driver let a little kid blast emergency car siren two meters from me when I was walking near the car. 😡 So the kid could try it. What an idiot.

Earplugs outdoors. Thoughtless idiots are everywhere. You can't change the world, but you can plug your ears.
Ironic : my Brain filters out the sound enrichment I use at night because it's too busy focusing on tinnitus. Took me 20min to realize it was still running
Does anyone know why/how I would be getting pain sensations when I get jolts of tinnitus? I get these high pitched zaps which hurt… does anyone know what that is? could be muscle spasm?
Took a quiet bath but my tinnitus spiked anyways. I guess I have to be smelly forever lol
Meeting with my union rep this week, typed up my letter of resignation. Wish I didn't have to do this, but I know I have to for my condition and future. Only thing is in PA, school districts can hold you for 60 calendar days post resignation letter :(

@Nick47 never pain hyperacusis (knock on ALL wood), and the ONLY time I experienced true loudness hyperacusis was before I had the SSHL and developed tinnitus…
ErikaS
@Nick47 ENT used microsuction for a total of like 3-5 seconds in each ear to remove an ear drop oil that adhered to my ear drums and created like a membrane on the ear drums. For the next 24 hours I experienced mild to moderate loudness hyperacusis but I honestly think it's because my eardrums were normalizing after having that stuff block them for over a month
ErikaS
@Nick47 it was a week or two after that when I developed raging ear infection in R ear that lead to SSNHL and reactive T. If she would have given me a steroid and/or antibiotic when I called her and asked for them shortly after the hyperacusis calmed and R ear started to feel full, probably would never even have been here.
Delaying the Trileptal to try the Nurtec samples my ENT gave me. Took one tonight and will take another tomorrow night or Sunday AM as long as pill one doesn't spike me.
Today I stare at the ceiling with bittersweet emotions. I'm ready to forgive myself for how I risked my ears in middle school. I'm now almost 3 years free from using earphones / headphones
Hey guys! Been exercising the ringing has been low hiss past two weeks praying for more quiet days!
Trying to work on my business startup with so many unexpected obstacles has been stressful. Hurricane Helene has delayed me further. Hope this is the last roadblock.
Apt with psych today. Decided to give Trileptal another try due to only taking it a short time before and only at 150mg. Starting at 300mg a day…
ErikaS
@grate_biff so I am doing some research now and may delay the Trileptal to give the Nurtec a try this weekend.

@Nick47 what are your thoughts on this? Do you think it's worth giving Nurtec a try?

Hi @ErikaS only just realised how to apply to these messages after the new format. Nurtec is a CGRP antagonist from research. It may help and is recommended for migraines. Sorry to read about your job. I had to hand work back after getting worse T&H
Waking up is terrible and I need to get out of bed asap because otherwise bad thoughts run through my mind.
Didn't expect for this site to get updated. It's been a really long time coming. It'll take some time to adjust to this new look though.
Hello @dan, how are you? From what I can see, you've been living with this for a long time as well.
dan
I just lost my sense of smell! wow...possibly covid or flu, my T is thru the roof and im sick.
Do you know anybody who lost smell due to a flu?
2049v
@dan, yeah man, it's normal. It happens to me all the time but I meant about the tinnitus :D what was the cause of your tinnitus and is it the severe type?
Hmm this spike seems to be lasting quite a while... Could possibly be a permanent increase but idk. Ugh... What a condition...
Completed 15 rounds of HBOT but no improvement of Level 5T in right ear. LLLT Did not help. Now on 4th day of Lenire unit.
There needs to be more tinnitus support here in Aus, tempted to start a support group for my city so I feel less alone... Selfish maybe. Ha
I remember having covid in August. Couldn't leave my bed, wasn't even able to talk or open my eyes for 2 days. At least no T spike lmao
crescentsky
@Eric N it took my friend 14+ days after symptoms subsided to fully recover her taste. I lost partial taste and it took a few days to come back. I didn't actually realized it and thought it was just Covid being an asshole. I shocked my tastebuds when I ate spicy food and it almost all came back the next day or so.

Hi @Eric N ! Sorry for the late reply. No, No effect at all. I was so scared about this long term side effect but thankfully it didn't affect my taste and smell. I hope you feel much better now!
Eric N
On day 18 now after a loss of smell it's come back but still only at 50% Taste is almost back to normal I would say 80% fingers crossed it continues to improve
