  • Banged a lamp against a metal cased heater. Hopefully I wont have any hearing damage from it, even if I was pretty close to it.
    H
At the very least it didnt make direct contact with my ear canal. If that were the case, then things would have got ugly.

I hate it when parents are overly controlling even if I'm 24 and have middle ear myoclonus. I just want to focus on my health rather then pointless crap.
I was trying to unpack some shopping and bumped my head accidently into a stool that was placed next to a radiator, quite scary.
    H
As the sudden bang only lasted a second and didn't come into direct contact directly into my left ear canal, I should hopefully be OK. It was near me, but I imagine a gun going off would have been far worse. Just got to be more mindful in the future.
Great, now the constuction workers are getting closer and using power drills, which are usually 90 db. They were 100 ft away, so i may be ok
    H
The exposure was heard for 2 seconds before I put on my muffs. Still, living in a village this horrible desperately make me want to move.

All those shills who say you shouldn't use earmuffs are delusional, you need them in a place where wankers show off their drills and rev up their cars. It's a stupid noisy world we live in.
Going to focus on getting rid of my stress and TTTS, and what remains of my hyperacusis.
    H
Been going to a chiropractor which has been feeling good for unwinding back tension, going to try acupuncture to see if it helps my stress.

I have a strong feeling my TTTS was caused by a loud noise exposure which came with it hyperacusis, going to see what I can do with it. Gonna pray that I will have my silence back, hopefully my wish shall be granted one day.

Been enjoying music again, just keep the volume at around 1 at minimum and 3 at max, but I dont use headphones anymore. Unless I'm in a situation where I would need them, like in a communications room in the military, I will not use them again. That being said, when delinquents are showing off with their motorbikes and sports cars, I'll grab my earmuffs to protect my hearing.
I ask my Mum to put some olive oil in my left ear, then decides to tap my ear with a metal spoon... hope this doesn't cause any problems
    H
I have tinnitus from stress and TTTS, I am hoping to get them treated, I dont need an old woman to cause me any more problems. All I asked was to put some olive oil in the ear, not tap on the ear with metal that MAY POTENTIALLY DAMAGE IT. Stupid boomers.
    Contrast
this is stupid and will do nothing for your tinnitus.
    H
@Contrast OK. It's probably more of the suddenness that made it a bit stressful. Haven't noticed any changes so I should be in the clear. If only the NHS were more quick to respond.
Just a normal Sunday afternoon, then some stupid wanker starts using a buzzsaw. I immedeatly put on my muffs so I shud be fine, but still...
    H
...seeing idiots using chainsaws, lawnmowers, drills and buzzsaws without protecting their ears makes me question my faith in humanity. Even though my tinnitus isn't technically noise induced it still worries me, like anyone with working brain cells.
    H
My main goals at the moment are to finish my remaining uni work, get myself treated of stress and TTTS to remove the tinnitus, then move the hell away from this stupid town. I need to move to somewhere where it's calm.
Wearing earmuffs while construction work is going on is never a bad idea. Just common sense, really.
    H
My hyperacusis is effectively gone, only really react to very sudden sounds now, however, many sounds I can tolerate now.

Recently had an MRI and they didnt find anything, so at this point, I feel my tinnitus is connected to stress and TTTS, since I was in a noisy area when the TTTS came about and was stressed so that doesnt help things. Fingers crossed that I'll hear my silence again someday.
Keeping the windows closed to avoid the cold weather, so bleedin chilly. Eating lots of mucus free food to help. Hope it gets hot again
I'm considering taking paracetemol, but given that its ototoxic, maybe I could take NAC to reduce the ototoxic effects.
    Contrast
i would never take anything ototoxic, there is nothing that can truly prevent ototoxicity on the market yet.
    H
i kinda need it for pain in my right hand. if its in a very small dose, like 1 pill i should hopefully be ok... still a bit worrying. maybe i should just use my left hand for the time being
Got pain in my right hand. My Dr said to take paracetemol, but its ototoxic, so I dont want to get worse
    TheDanishGirl
I take paracetamol every month due to menstrual pains and whether or not a pain killer is ototoxic or not, I won't let that stop me from taking them.....pain is terrible.
    Michael Leigh
I am tired of hearing and reading the word ototoxic. Take the paracetamol it will not affect your tinnitus. Fear and anxiety will!
Attempted to do some sound therapy and I could hear a loud bang from downstairs, all thanks to my Mum. Fucking great.
    H
I want to rid myself of hyperacusis, but until i can get my own place, I cant. I have to do my sound therapy at 2 AM in the morning when she's asleep, and its so irritating.

The 21st century, when baby boomers can act like total idiots to millennials, fucking amazing.
    H
And when I ask her to stop making banging sounds she gets into a drunken rage, so no point in communicating. Isn't life fun? C'mon FT, give me my silence back!!
My Mum refuses to cooperate with me. She waved a plastic box around me like a clown and says I'm evil and "putting on an act". Dammit.
    H
She has had 9 months to accept the fact that I'm a different person now, with hyperacusis, and she seems to be adamant to make things worse for me. Moving out is the only way for me to be sane. Any parent who can't listen to their childs wishes shouldn't be parents to begin with.
    Contrast
my family is mentally abusive too. :(

mom intentionally tried to yell in my ear back when my hyperacusis was really bad. after i damaged my hearing i lost my job, school, everything. Now I just try to be the most counter cultural person.
    Nice
My 88 year old mother has had tinnitus for years and she reassures me that it's going to get better and that I won't even notice it someday. We all need encouragement and determination. Have a nice day.
Trying to enjoy breakfast with hyperacusis is very difficult for me. *sigh* I want to move into a forest at some point, that would be nice.
    H
@Contrast At least they aren't yobs playing footy or as bad as sports cars. I am trying to listen to ambient tracks on YT like waterfalls and waves, which are calming..
    Contrast
true hyperacusis varies in degrees. mine reduced like 95%
    H
Good for you. I am trying my hardest to combat it, but university work is getting to me.
Suffering from a stress induced spike due to my crazy Mother kicking my door open just before sleep. Hope it goes down, I don't want this :(
    H
That feeling when you expect your Mother to be kind and sympathetic, and she's only gone and created more problems. She also bangs cupboards makes a racket downstairs, a real annoyance to my hyperacusis. Also a crazy drunkard, which doesn't help. :(
    H
Before it was just a "*click click clunk* in the right ear, now theres an extra pure tone in the left... C'mon Frequency, your my only hope!
Was just about to have dinner and then some fucking hooligans decided to set of fireworks. Instant spike, hope I can get prednisolone :(
