  • I always thought, because of what I had been hearing, that the senior years would be the golden years.
Peace is an awesome thought. No noise just peace.

    Ugh. Amen.

@TomK I see the meds are working. That's great. What caused your tinnitus? Does it react to external sound?
    TomK
My Tinnitus started like 8 years ago from loud machines and loud music, it has a blend of hyperacusis as well, where I cannot stand many sounds because they make my T rise.
Noise outside doesn't affect me much. Music does, my refrigerator is very bothersome. At times I watch tv with no sound while I read the closed captioning, tv does make me crazier!
    WEIRD.
The meds are still working pretty good so far.
Holy Moley Rocky when is the world gonna calm down? My T takes a back seat...
    SarahMLFlemmer
The world has to be in chaos for the Anti-Christ to come in "the name of peace." One world religion, one world government. But it'll be a trap. True peace is found only in Christ. It'll calm down when the true King returns. ❤️
    SarahMLFlemmer
You asked! =P Glad you're having a "good" T day.
Keep the stress down in your lives for less tinnitus. Prop your head up when lying down to keep the blood flow minimal in your head.
I'm on Gabapentin, Carbamezepine, and Dicyclomine for bad tinnitus > high stress made my tinnitus bad even on those meds I listed above.
I'm scared because the meds might stop working and put me back into Hell. I'm scared because tinnitus is evil. T wants us dead.
    kingsfan
Gabapentin helps mine to a degree. I don't take it for extended periods because I'm also afraid it will stop working if I do.

@Ryan Scott I got mine from an ENT at the University of California, Irvine Medical Center
    TomK
I had an MRI on my brain, the inner workings of my ears and no tumors were found which could be causing the tinnitus.
Doc hooked me up with the meds, he said he's heard they lower tinnitus so try em out. I have 3 refills.
    SarahMLFlemmer
I'm sorry this is so hard.
The thing about the meds lowering my T is HOW LONG WILL THEY WORK? How long until I'm back in Tinnitus Hell!
    Jupiterman
If they only lower T for a few weeks, where's the benefit in taking them?
    TomK
I've been taking them for two weeks, they're working now , i will keep you all up to date.
    TomK
I've been taking them for two weeks and am pleasantly surprised.
yes indeedy my T is lower.
I hope the meds keep doing lowering my T. They could wear off after a few more weeks. I hope not!
The meds I spoke of yesterday lower my T immensely, Carbamazepine, Dicyclomine and Gabapentin taken together does the trick at least for now
    sakrt
What are the possible side effect risks in long run, do you know? Esp. W/ all 3. @TomK good that it's helping!
Neurologist told me to take these after he did an MRI on my brain looking for tumors causing my T. Carbamazepine, Dicyclomine and Gabapentin
I have been using these drugs to lower my tinnitus > Carbamazepine, Dicyclomine and Gabapentin and because of it my T has dropped lots!
    RunningMan
So it takes all 3? How long have you been taking them?
The more I do the worse my tinnitus gets because of physical activity, the blood pressure rises as I do things, the tinnitus follows along.
    MindOverMatter
@TomK Thats very common, but its only temporary. In the long run, physical activity outplays the down in such regard. This also gets better with time, as you just stop to care much about those temporary fluctuations.
The really high tones that run through my head at times and disappear are a nice change from the standard bat out of hell noise I live with.
My zest for life is fading away because of my severe Tinnitus, ask a Doctor what to do about it? Lol!
Get your flu shot people!! Who knows it might cure your tinnitus, the doctors can't! Doctors want big dollars to talk to you. Lol!
Doctors can tell you to avoid noise and keep the volume down, and that is about all they can do. Why waste your money on a doctor they quack
Another very noisy weekend with my evil friend , tinnitus. I had a neurologist appt last week, says there is nothing he can do for my T.
Our government is on the wrong side of the medical world when it comes to tinnitus. They should research T and not ignor it.
I blame the US Government for not giving a rats ass about tinnitus. The US Government is not on our side.
Piss and moan about something there is no cure for or a medication made to lower the noise? Hell yes!!
Two days in a row with very loud hissing that's driving me over the cliff of no return unless some God heals my audio cortex. Noise sucks!
If you're poor or can't afford a tinnitus doctor, I am so sorry. I know the feeling of being a lesser than. Do your best to lower your T.

Who do you mean by 'tinnitus doctor'?
    TomK
In Minnesota there are two Tinnitus Clinics, one in Edina and one in Burnsville. They're people pretending to be doctors is all I can think of.
$500 per visit. Rip off Doctors!!
    TomK
    They use talk therapy...
I f I was a wealthy man I could go to the Tinnitus Clinic in Edina where they charge $500 an hour to speak with a tinnitus doctor. SCAMMMMMM
Scientists haven't done a thing for us tinnitus suffers. HELLO SCIENTISTS!
    Anomalous
Scientists need funding in order to do anything and there's very little funding in tinnitus research.
    Anomalous
Tinnitus is the number one disability for american veterans. Meanwhile the US spends monstrous amounts of money on its military evey year, more than the next ten countries combined.
    Anomalous
If just a tiny fraction of a percent of that money had been spent on funding tinnitus research scientists would be jumping at the opportunity to bring millions of people out of disability.
If they can send rockets into space, they can find a cure for tinnitus, or a medication that lower the noise.
I found an ear doctor who knows what tinnitus is and what drugs make T worse. This doctor is a neurologist. I trust him more GP or ENT Dr's.
