  • I feel so stupid not using foam earplugs. One mistake and permantentely worsened tinnitus. Never felt so stupid (and sad) in my life.

    Foam earplugs may not have prevented your tinnitus from spiking if the sound was loud enough? Especially if you have had tinnitus for a while and it was noise induced? The reason is, external sound can pass through the head and be transferred to the inner ear by Bone conduction. This can spike the tinnitus. No earplugs can stop this happening if the sound is too loud.
    Going to a theater show (I didn't expect to be loud) with bad only 19db reducing earplugs last week made my tinnitus so much worse.
