  • Hey SadMan, I saw you were also dealing with a dysacusis phenomenon. I just wanted to ask if yours improved or even disappeared? Thanks in advance!

I am sorry to hear that. Sadly, no one tells you about tinnitus until you develop it and start your own research. Otherwise, many people would be more careful with noises and stress... Do you also suffer from hearing loss? Unfortunately, I noticed that my hearing starts to get worse starting at 9 kHz and I really can't hear frequencies above 14/15 kHz. Only my right ear is able to hear frequencies up to almost 18 kHz
    SadMan
My right ear can hear up to 10,000 Hz. My left ear can hear up to 12,000 Hz. I am 39 years old. I have a hearing of 30 decibels at 8000 hz.

Sounds like our tinnitus stories and symptoms are very similar. Fortunately, at 8 kHz my hearing is normal which is why no one noticed my hearing loss with audiograms. Do you also suffer from muffled hearing?

Let's keep in touch and hope that both of us can recover from that misery! We haven't even lived half of a life and should not life with it until the end...
    Has anyone tried amitriptyline?
    Bill Bauer
It has helped me fall asleep despite T and didn't make me feel drowsy the next day. It isn't addictive. It has been used to Treat T. However, there is a small chance that it causes T. There are published studies about its use as treatment and about it causing T, but I haven't read too many horror stories about it on this forum.

How many mg did you take a day?
I went out yesterday because hyperacusis was gone. I did not wear ear protection. Today tinnitus is very loud.
My tinnitus continues. My hyperacusis is gone. I think Keppra helped cure my hyperacusis.

I've been taking keppra for 2 months and it hardly did a thing. What was your dosage?
    SadMan
I only used it for 1 month, starting with 1000 mg and going up to 3000 mg.
    IntotheBlue03
This is very helpful thank you. Assuming this helped you with your reactivity as well?
This morning my tinnitus got so much.
    SadMan
It calmed down a bit now
    SadMan
I'm not sure, but it's as if the tinnitus calms down a little when I take Keppra.
I started using Keppra. Today was the second day.

it isn't doing shit for me anymore. but I hope maybe you'll be lucky

I made the plan as follows.
    1.week 2 * 500mg
    2.week 2 * 500mg
    3.week 2 * 750mg
    4.week 2 * 1000mg
    ....
    8.week 2 * 1000mg

@vermillion Of course I will keep it updated. I started to feel that he was doing something to the hyperacusis. My fear of voices has subsided. It can be psychological :)
With the Piracetam I started yesterday, the hissing sound turned into ringing again. :(

It's not supposed to be. If you go to a doctor here with T, you'll probably end up taking Nootropil in either IV or tablet form. Other than being ineffective, it's generally well tolerated. My high freq T started a week in on piracetam and betahistin though (I took them for my recurring unilateral low freq tone). Probably a coincidence.
    SadMan
The hissing spontaneously turned into ringing. It wasn't about Piracetam. Today I re-started using Piracetam 2 * 1200 mg and cinnarizine 2 * 25 mg.
    SadMan
I stopped using Piracetam again. Because my tinnitus has increased. I will try using amitriptyline. Wish me luck.
Yesterday I sleep without masking my tinnitus. I'm listening to my tinnitus instead of listening to the radio.
My tinnitus turned into more hissing (left ear). Still, some days it continues as tinnitus. Morse code in my right ear
    T
    Good news! :)
    twa
They say hissing is good! I also have morse code or typewriter T in the ear my child yelled in. :-(
Listening to white noise and pink noise is really bad for me. I will not listen to white or pink noise again. It didn't work for me.
    Bill Bauer
    Try the sound of crickets.
    BrOKeN_1
During the first month or so I thought white and pink k noise were working but quickly that disappeared. I agree with @Bill Bauer "Crickets" work really well. In moderation. Best of Luck
    Drachen
It feels like the colored sounds do work for me to some extent, but it's not exactly the most pleasant thing to listen to either. I echo the above in the sense that less artificial sounds like fans or crickets are great. Rain is great for me.
I have no hearing loss. So why do all sounds sound bad to me. It sounds like a high-pitched sound.
83 days have passed. Tinnitus, hyperacusis, ear pressure did not go away. Why is there no improvement? I'm very unlucky.
Today is the 56th day. My tinnitus drives me crazy.
    Bill Bauer
The first 3-6 months are the hardest.
    SadMan
:( I have been using betahistine for 2 months. I'm thinking of cutting. So far, I have not seen any benefit other than increasing tinnitus. I guess it doesn't work in acoustic trauma. What do you think about this? Thank you, 6 months will be very difficult, unfortunately. I hope other months won't be like that either.
As of today, I started working from home. I spoke to my workplace yesterday. Have your tinnitus decreased after 3 months
    twa
That's a positive thing that your work is allowing you to work from home.
I was a Systems Programmer. I took time off from work(3 months) to adjust adjust to the noise.
Hello,I have been working as a .net software specialist for 10 years. Can you tell us about your first months with tinnitus? Could you sleep?
    B
It does get better. The mind plays a huge role in tinnitus, for some more than others. For me, I had to train my mind to remain in a calm state, whilst intentionally listening to my T. It is a very difficult skill to learn, but once you master it, habituation becomes much easier, and the volume/intensity of the T will likely decrease.
Hi SadMan, How you doing today? What type of work do you do? Ask me any question.
