Antidepressants (SSRIs, SNRIs, MAOs, TCAs, TeCAs)

Hi. I did a slow taper off of the Sertraline/Zoloft this past spring/summer and by mid-July was off. I replaced it with Mirtazapine. To spare a long story - by October of this year my anxiety was through the roof, tinnitus would spike to extreme high pitch levels, and I decided I needed to...

Four Days, No Tinnitus — Thanks Greg Sacramento

@Greg Sacramento, while I believe my tinnitus is primarily noise-induced and I cannot modulate my tinnitus with head/neck/jaw movements I also have strange cervical spine issues - I have constant tingling in my neck and shoulders that produces shaking-like sensations and muscle twitches. I'm...

    Tinnitus Retraining Therapy

@Michael Leigh, I have two completely genuine questions. Can you please clarify how the white noise generators might successfully treat the tinnitus, while other forms of headphone usage, even at low volumes, is harmful? It seems contradictory to me but I think I'm missing something and I...

Otonomy OTO-313 — Treatment of Tinnitus

I think that is bilateral, no question.

Otonomy OTO-313 — Treatment of Tinnitus

That's the thing... a person suffering from "mostly in the left" or "mostly in the right" tinnitus might be unsure if they actually qualify as unilateral. Much of the time I feel like it is only in my left and I have a hard time understanding how someone could be sure it is ONLY in one ear since...

Otonomy OTO-313 — Treatment of Tinnitus

I fall under the "mostly in my left ear" category and am sometimes unsure if it's only in my left ear and there are secondary effects causing perception of noise in the right. I think these secondary effects mean I am truly bilateral, but I can see how one would be unsure and think they are...

Antidepressants (SSRIs, SNRIs, MAOs, TCAs, TeCAs)

Thank you for the input. I asked my psychiatrist about withdrawal symptoms and she made it sound like I would not have symptoms tapering off of Sertraline (Zoloft). I then asked about a slower taper plan, like cutting 50 mg every two weeks, and she said that was fine.

Bluetooth Speaker Playing Loud Static Near My Ears Caused a Spike — Considering Suicide

You're very young and have the benefit of time on your side. What you're experiencing is a spike that will subside to your baseline level but you need to give it time. By the time you are 25-30 there will be many advances in the treatments. See the Research News page. Read Success Stories...

Antidepressants (SSRIs, SNRIs, MAOs, TCAs, TeCAs)

Thank you for the reply @Lane. I ordered Turmeric Curcumin with Bioperine supplements yesterday to see if it can offer any assistance.

Antidepressants (SSRIs, SNRIs, MAOs, TCAs, TeCAs)

My inclination is to follow the advice of the psychiatrist although her telling me she has never had a patient experience this side effect in 30 years doesn't bode well for how informed she is about this particular issue. I do have an in-office visit with her on February 11th. I consider my...

Two Months in with Some Improvement in My Tinnitus, But...

The first doctor after my onset in December said "if it's anything permanent, well, then there's really nothing we can do" which stuck with me for days and definitely made my anxiety worse. Medical professionals have GOT to become more aware of the links between anxiety/depression and noticing...

Listening to Music on Headphones While Also Wearing Earplugs?

I'm really interested in feedback about this too as I will never listen to music on headphones again but would like to know the harm of listening to podcasts through this method. Perhaps it's naive but my feeling is that with podcasts there is no need for bass.
