I've learned that if you get hyperacusis with a spike it's more serious and you should treat it. Otherwise just wait for it to settle down.

For the most part it spikes due to drastic weather changes or random medication. Sometimes I have trouble sleeping when in rains outside.

Tinnitus for the most part is moderate. It spikes way too often for me to call it mild. I'm just enjoying life without worrying about it.

How is this possible? 82-85 dB is the level of noise in the car unless you're driving a luxury sedan. By this logic virtually anyone would damage their hearing by commuting everyday to work.

I'm pretty sure if you don't have detectable hearing loss up to 8 kHz (flat audiogram) than it wouldn't matter so you both can use it without readjusting the settings.
