  • Went to the gym for 1st time last night & T is louder/more fluctuating today. But not as loud as it would be after softball months ago!
Going for a new record today...two days in a row of really quiet T. If I can break this pattern I'll be happy!!
This cyclical pattern to my T is so annoying. Two days of quiet, which foolishly gives me hope Im near done. Then back & sh*tty the next day
Today was already loud, then I ate lunch with coworkers in a restaurant and now it's even worse. This is some hot garbage, I tell yah.
Yesterday was fantastic, today it's buzzing like mad. How do I know my ears are actually healing when it comes back louder 24 hours later??
Todays so much worse than yesterday. I dont know what I seem to keep doing wrong but I just want to cry. Losing hope this will ever be gone.
Can't believe today marks month #7 of this BS. Today is the quietest it's been yet, but will it last til tomorrow? Guess I'll find out! :/
I seem to just have a trend of good day, bad day, good day, bad day. Today's a bad day of fluctuating hissing -_-
My T just did a MAJOR shift down instantaneously, almost like at the snap of a finger while I'm at work. What?? Just hoping this lasts!
Had my first brief moment of silence last night! Today's T is louder, but I'm holding onto hope that more moments of silence are coming.
T has dropped off a lot over the last 2 weeks. Still have spikes, but they're more manageable now. Also adopted my 1st dog & Im super happy!
I wish I could just stop hyper-focusing on my T, even when it gets really quiet at times. All I do is search for it and I can't stop :(
6 month "anniversary" update - Ts still there, but very, very low the last few days. Occasional spikes, yeah, but nothing like before!
T is almost silent right now, so much better than yesterdays buzzing BS! If nobody could set it off using the printer at work thatd be great
Yesterday was the first day that I DIDN'T notice my T moreso than I DID notice it. It's also super quiet today at work for a change!!!!

@twa thank you! @Lurius Keep the faith! One of the big things Ive learned from this is T is such a crapshoot recovery-wise. How everyone can have vastly different experiences with the intensity/sounds theyre hearing/reactivity or not/recovery is ridiculous. So dont take to heart the 6-12 month thing. Its not like youre missing a leg and theres no way its coming back. With T, theres hope it can still right itself!
    Lurius
I hear you there. I only have T in my left ear, which is sort of the thing that has saved me from suicide so far. I have two tones, one comes and goes. My T isn't reactive in nature. But when one of the sounds cranks up, I get positively miserable.

I'm so sorry to hear that this has pushed you that close. I'll continue to hope that it gets easier for you and you have increased periods of quiet. I hate the phrase "it could be worse" because this is NOT a competition over who has it worse, but I would try to focus on the 2 positives you mentioned: it's only in one ear and isn't reactive.
Aaaaand sure enough, I didn't sleep great last night and the T is louder! But not as loud as it was on Tuesday so I'm calling that a win!

Thank you! I haven't slept through the night for nearly a year now, then the tinnitus hit me in December and it's just been worse. But it is slowly getting back to "normal" again, I think. Maybe one of these days I'll sleep through the night! Hope you're doing okay :)
    kuromi
@Brittany95 If it's any consolation, sleep has been weird for me too. Normally I've been able to drift off easily and sleep well, but for the past few days it's been a bit rocky. Just trying to ride it out though! Otherwise, the tinnitus has been totally livable.
    Brittany95
Sorry to hear it's switching up on you! I'm sure it'll get back to normal soon. I've stopped having the problem of being able to fall asleep (and usually don't mask with rain sounds now), but actually staying asleep is the killer. I always wake up at 3:30/4:30/5:30 and it's a coin toss if I fall back asleep after that. It's so weird and annoying :/
The hiss is whisper quiet right now, like I barely even hear it! It's amazing how a good night's sleep impacts this!
    Lurius
It's been quiet for me too today! Woke up early, but I think I slept some. Still, this is a good day.
    Brittany95
@Jebbis a few miles a day? Dang, that's awesome! Glad to hear it's helping :) @twa Thank you so much! I hope your vertigo is continuing to improve/stay away? @Lurius that's awesome to hear!! I hope this is the start of another good period for you, one that lasts longer than two weeks!
    kuromi
@Lurius Good to know you're doing well. My T has been very quiet for the past few months and it's made me feel really happy. I hope your good days only continue.
Lost both softball games last night, slept like garbage, T is worse today. Cmon man!
    Brittany95
Sorry to hear that! :( Do you find your T is worse when you sleep bad? I got about 6 hours of sleep and it's definitely worse than it's been the last 3 days.
    Lurius
I've had a really good period for about 2 weeks now, but that seems to be over. I'm not sure if my T is more annoying today, but my reaction to it is definately worse. My nerves have been shot today because of a combination of unfortunate events, so I just hope to get some sleep tonight and it will all improve soon.
    Brittany95
When it rains, it pours, as they say. Hopefully the bad comes to an end and the good can come back :) If you had 2 weeks of good, you should get that again soon! I think that's the case with mine, where it just seems my reaction to it is worse when I sleep bad rather than it actually being worse. Like I'm just a big tired grump today so the noise is just exacerbated haha
Went to another Dbacks game yesterday - no earplugs! I could hear the hiss elevate a bit, but no lasting spike once we got home. Woohoo!
    Brittany95
Thank you! And glad to see you're doing well too! :)
    Bill Bauer
If you start hitting a wall with a hammer, it takes some time before you are able to see the objects on the other side of the wall.
    Brittany95
@Bill Bauer I love a good analogy, but I'll be honest I can't figure out if this is in support or as a warning to what I did haha! I did have earplugs on hand just in case, but we were sitting in a more quiet section (the other game I went to we sat close to the jumbo-tron speakers, which sucked) so that was good.
So I noticed awhile ago that my T changes when I angle my head differently. Now I noticed it changes when I lean forward and backwards? Wut
    Sayeed
so does mine..its weird. it shifts depending on the side I sleep on. It has a mind of its own.
    Brittany95
It really does! It makes me wonder if I could solve this by going to a chiropractor haha
Welp my sister and I got tix for Switchfoot & NEEDTOBREATHE in Sept. My ears have 4 months to get their act together lol. Am I dumb? Yup!
    H
    Just don't go D:
    Brittany95
I know it's kinda a dumb risk...but my T wasn't caused by an acoustic trauma (ear infections) so I think it'll be fine. I'll definitely be wearing earplugs though!
This weekend was so quiet, I swear I heard silence at times. Today? BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ! Just trying to stay positive I'm still healing.
    twa
    That's awesome Brittany!
    Brittany95
Thank you, it was very much needed! Just trying to focus on the fact that, if it got that quiet once, it can get that quiet again!
2 bands I love, Switchfoot & NEEDTOBREATHE, are going on tour together. Theyll be in PHX in Sept. Want to see them so bad but am scared now.
    Brittany95
Concerts and movie theatres are my big hang-ups with this, yeah. I used to go to the movies almost every weekend with my dad. I haven't in months now. I think I'll go see a Quiet Place II, only because it's actually going to be quiet for the most part lol. I hope one day we can have normalcy again <3
    twa
I like those bands too. I used to go to a CCM concert once or twice a year and to the movies almost every week. I wonder if the movies contributed to mine because I don't use earphones and only rarely used earbuds for a phone call.
    Brittany95
Thats what I'm scared of, that Ive actually already damaged my ears and the infection just exacerbated it. Ive been to about 30 concerts in my life, no protection, and probs hundreds of movies. And listening to music with headphones for years (havent really since college). But after every single event, my ears were fine by the next day. Im only 26 and feel like I just started really living only to be hit with this.
So because the universe seems to hate me, I got into my 1st car accident this morning. I'm okay for the most part, but my car is f*cked.
    Brittany95
Oh man, I cant imagine skidding out, that sounds terrible! I was in bumper-to-bumper traffic on the highway. It was stop, go, stop, GO! Oh shit stop! I wasnt distracted or riding too close, I think it just took a sec to register that everyone was coming to a dead stop. I got hit from behind and that person fled. Person in front had minimal damage while my car started smoking & was leaking fluid & had to be towed -_-
    LilSass
Hey Brittany! Glad to hear you are okay. It really sucks about your car, but it could have been worse. Now it's just a PIA dealing with insurance and not having a car!
    Brittany95
Thank you! That's what I keep telling myself: Nobody was killed or even seriously hurt so I'm fortunate in that. I'm just hoping for good news today that my car is repairable!
Going to the Dbacks game for my birthday tonight & this will be the loudest place I've been to since T onset. Heres hoping it doesnt spike!
    twa
Happy birthday! What's your plan? Earplugs?
    Brittany95
Thank you!! And yes, I'll be bringing earplugs with. I'm hoping it won't be as loud as a normal game since we're at limited capacity, and it's a weekday game. Fingers crossed!
Why is it that like 5 minutes after I say what progress I've made, the T seems to ramp up? -__- I should keep my mouth shut I swear
    Charlesm0513
I had like silence for 2 straight days, then got up today right back to "normal". Almost thought it was getting better. I should have known better.
    Keith Handy
Read the long term success stories... lots of ups and downs.
    Brittany95
@Charlesm0513 Right? Like I feel naïve thinking it's finally gone, then BAM, it's back! It is still getting slowly better for me, overall. Here's hoping you get more silent days! @Keith Handy I'm trying to read them all haha! I will say it has been more up than down lately, with sleep improving over the last two weeks, thank God. I hope you're doing well :)
The last two days have been very quiet! Still a little reactive, but my ears sound more like air escaping a tire now. I'll take it!
Damn that 2nd Moderna shot kicked my ass yesterday! Word of advice to anyone getting Moderna: plan to take the following day off of work lol
    twa
Lots of water, rest and eat well. Feel better!
    Brittany95
Thank you, I'm already feeling normal today! Still drinking a bunch of water and went to bed early last night. Hope you feel better soon too with the dizziness! :)
Can't believe how much better my T is today. Of course, probably jinxing myself cuz I'm getting my second Moderna shot in 2 hours!
    Tinker Bell
    That's great news!
    twa
@Brittany95, that is great news! Keep at it and continue to take good care of yourself. This bout of vertigo hit me 10 days after my 2nd shot. I also became dizzy 5 days after my first shot.
    Brittany95
So I may have spoken too soon, lol. I got hit with chills and fatigue about an hour into work and went home at noon. Kinda crashed on the couch but feeling better now! @twa I hope the vertigo subsides soon! If it went away after the first one Id imagine it would with the second :)
