I don't think the earplugs were very good. I use different ones now that are better but I have since quit the job and no longer have to use Shop-Vacs. I won't go anywhere near a vacuum now.

May I ask what made it improve? That is interesting. I can’t usually go longer than a couple of hours before I am at my wits' end with the torturous ringing and I have to turn on some sound therapy.

Yes, using a Shop-Vac was a part of the job. I thought I was protected using earplugs. Hindsight is 20/20, I should have quit my job sooner. I'm 47.

Yes exactly! Not even my sound therapy that I play through my hearing aids can mask it. It’s just way too high pitched and loud! Do you use sound therapy at all?

Alcohol always spiked my tinnitus so I quit drinking more than a year ago.

It could be that your tinnitus is changing. After my initial onset, around 2-3 months in, I developed reactive tinnitus with 2 more tones which lasted for about a month or two before it went back to a single tone and became non-reactive.

Drinking alcohol while on benzos increases your risk of tolerance and given that benzos are already highly addictive I would highly suggest abstaining from drinking.
