Hi acute, it's only in my left ear. I still hear this on and off whisper on some days when I am in bed, barely noticeable. Anyway, tinnitus isn't a part of my life anymore. Hope you guys recover soon!

Affected a bit only in the first three months, frome then on, smooth sailing. Going very strong now as my Tinnitus is non-existent.

I am getting close to my 3rd year after the onset. These days I have days of silence like 10~12 days in a row and suddenly it comes back again staying for a couple of days or so but very very mild and can hear only in dead quiet envirements.

If your tinnitus reacts to such sounds and as a result you usually get spikes, then you have to worry, otherwise you will be fine. I never wear/wore earplugs or muffs after the onset. IMO, it is meaningless to wear those if you have non-reactive tinnitus.

Sorry I can't answer your question as I don't know anything about earplugs or earmuffs because I never wore any of those after the onset. In my case, I enjoyed every activity that I used to do before getting tinnitus including seeing movies at the theater, riding my bike to work daily for about...
