Depending on where you live, you could look into Etizolam as it is legal in most of the USA. Very similar to Xanax, but I actually prefer Etizolam over it. Significantly helps with my H pain, burning, and sensitivity. PM me if you have any questions about it.

Do you guys get an immediate spike after your showers?? That's so scary, because I love showers and find that a warm shower will actually alleviate my symptoms for an hour or so afterwards. Not sure if it's from the warm water loosening tense muscles, or just the sort of white noise the shower...

Our symptoms sound identical. Do you also get a cold menthol feeling in your ears?? My ears have been feeling like they are bruised too lately. I also get burning and sometimes a shooting pain on my scalp above my ears. The delayed reaction is so weird too, I don't understand why this happens...

I'm fully aware of the addiction potentials and side effects of benzos. Does it specifically state why they shouldn't be used for tinnitus?

Is yours constant or only around sounds ?? Do you get an instant pain from noises ? Have you tried any medication?

I'm not sure, my tinnitus is very very mild (thankfully) so I can't comment on that. It can definitely help sufferers get some sleep, but I would look into something like ambien instead if you are really struggling. Better yet melatonin, but that doesn't work for some people. I've heard horror...
