    Loudness Hyperacusis vs Anxiety

I came across this today: http://www.hyperacusis.net/what-to-do/questions-and-answers/ Basically claiming that 40% of tinnitus sufferers have sensitivity but that it’s not hyperacusis. Is hyperacusis.net a trustworthy site? What @Juan and @Zugzug describe isn’t recognisable to me. My issue is...

How to Avoid the Occlusion Effect? Help!

I can’t wear ear plugs but when I thought I could and was researching them I came across ACS and as far as I remember they go in past the cartilage to minimise the occlusion effect: https://www.acscustom.com/uk/products/hearing-protection/pro-series

Frequency Therapeutics — Hearing Loss Regeneration

Thanks. I was going to ask for clarification regarding pain/discomfort hyperacusis. Being in the same boat as yourself in that regard I am just hoping that the pain/discomfort I experience from those sounds don’t then branch out to other sounds as well.

Frequency Therapeutics — Hearing Loss Regeneration

@Killer If the synapses get regenerated then would it be right to think that someone with tinnitus who also has some form of hyperacusis/sound sensitivity would see benefit? It’s the synapses that are likely to be the main driver of hyperacusis/sensitivity aren’t they?

Do Hearing Aids Help with Your Hyperacusis?

Wow that line at the end really hit me. My hyperacusis and tinnitus were certainly after years of earbud usage. That’s a really insightful way to look at things. Maybe even helps me deal with the fear of this affliction. I wasn’t kicking myself for being responsible for the damage, as I’m able...

Frequency Therapeutics — Hearing Loss Regeneration

What is the third picture of the hair cell depicting? Is it following treatment from FX-322? Only reason I’m doubting that is what it’s depicting is that it’s repaired the synapses so I’m thinking I’m wrong?

Where Does Hyperacusis Stand in Terms of Ongoing Research/Treatments?

What do you do for entertainment now as a result of those options no longer being feasible?

Where Does Hyperacusis Stand in Terms of Ongoing Research/Treatments?

I listened to that 2 days ago and it stood out because what he said was that he had never come across anyone who had pain but didn’t also have loudness. I have pain but no loudness. Was really surprised to hear that given his years of experience. Wasn’t sure how to feel or what to think, lol.

    How Rare Is Severe Hyperacusis?

Hello all. Apologies for my many posts of late. I just wanted to find some opinion on the prevalence of severe hyperacusis. In the following thread about research @Juan made a comment: Where Does Hyperacusis Stand in Terms of Ongoing Research/Treatments? I have been panicking a fair bit...

What Are My Legal Rights Having Tinnitus and Pain Hyperacusis in the UK?

Yeah I feel that it would be a bit of a battle to get recognition. However it would be a battle worth fighting for someone who is so significantly affected by it. I did think previously that a lawyer would be required in the event of significant worsening. Hope I don’t ever need to. Just good to...

What Are My Legal Rights Having Tinnitus and Pain Hyperacusis in the UK?

Do you mean sound therapy? The evidence for this for loudness hyperacusis seems unconvincing. And as it’s pain hyperacusis I have, from what I have seen it doesn’t seem to work for the pain variant at all. In fact all I see is people who have had their pain hyperacusis worsened by using the...

What Are My Legal Rights Having Tinnitus and Pain Hyperacusis in the UK?

I don’t wear headphones any more due to risk of further damage. What happened in April of last year?

What Are My Legal Rights Having Tinnitus and Pain Hyperacusis in the UK?

But under the Equality Act 2010 it states that hearing impairments may be classified as being disabling and are a protected characteristic. And hyperacusis would fall under this category and is recognised by the NHS as a genuine auditory condition. I recognise that a person may have to fight...

Frequency Therapeutics — Hearing Loss Regeneration

Is there any issues with how FX-322 treatment would work if I’ve taken prednisone or prednisolone before? I read in another thread that it is ototoxic and wondered if there would be an issue there?

What Are My Legal Rights Having Tinnitus and Pain Hyperacusis in the UK?

I wondered what my legal rights are broadly in the UK having tinnitus and (pain) hyperacusis? I assume these conditions fall under the Equality Act 2010 as a result of them being hearing impairments? I am experiencing difficulty with conference calls and mobile calls at present and it’s making...
