  • Just put on headphones. I can hear from 15hz to 17.5k if I turn up the volume even 19.5k. Fuck, My hearing is fucking perfect.
How the f that gave me T when I know I turned it up for like 10 seconds for max volume? What the hell...

Remember that the guidelines, i.e. 80 dB for 8 hours and so on, are complete bullshit. 100 dB is L.O.U.D, an acoustic trauma.
Measured max volume on my car audio which gave me T. The max loudness is 105db. I plugged my ears as hard as I could and turned it up. 1/1
There is literally almost no difference in perceived loudness above 102db....
If don't have a really stupid idea to test out how loud my car is for 5-6 seconds I would never got T. That shit is around 120db.
I just bought a db meter. 90db is already f.cking loud. If I purely listen to music, which is loud, it's around 75-80db.
It's easy. Huge blast at once = tinnitus. Big blasts consistently = hearing loss(maybe T)
If I don't blast for one song my ears I would have never got T....

If i didn't got to that 1 concert i would never have it either.. but truth is, you could of got it from a fire alarm, sirens, a virus many other things.. It sucks but that's how i think. That maybe i could've avoided it, but maybe i couldn't have
My hearing is perfect for a 23 years old person. I can hear up to 18k easily and no dips at all in my hearing. One stupid day got me T.
    Stacken77
@GCS Sounds like an exceptionally good audiogram. Is your T loud? I personally believe T, in some cases, has less to do with objective hearing loss and more to do with the predisposition in the brain. Do any relatives have T too?
    GCS
@Stacken77 well it's loud. I hear it easy outside. Well apparently my father and my grandmother has tinnitus but I doubt it because they say it l doesn't affect them at all while I'm going crazy...
    Stacken77
@GCS Sounds like it may run in the family. I have tinnitus 3 generations back as far as I know. Are the tones very high in frequency? Because high frequencies can be heard in most environments, even though they're not that loud. I have a few high frequency tones that can be heard outside.
Does the suffering ever ends? I'm almost 6 months into tinnitus and sometimes it is still really difficult...
    MBH
There is no fast way, it just takes time, but it does get better..

No. But it slowly gets better.
Yesterday was the 1st day without crying. I will soon post my full T story.
Is static and hissing tinnitus the same? My tinnitus doesn't change at all... I just fucking hate it...
    PortugalTheMan
To me a static hum is a hum like White Noise.
    Keith Handy
I think of static as the crackly sound, with hiss being more steady and smooth.
Bill Burr has T too. I'm so done.. so many people has T and I never heard about it
Just watched a video on tiktok about ear ringing and the top comment is with 200k likes: "wait, ear ringing is not normal? "
Oh my fucking god... I can't, I'm so tired. I always feel like I'm carrying a 50kg vest... how do you guys deal with static/hiss tinnitus?
    kingsfan
I'm not going to speak for everyone else, but I just trudge on through life.

One weird thing that has helped me is to walk outside while wearing earplugs. When it doesn't have any sound to compete with it sounds quieter for me, and after a while doesn't bother me much.
    Bill Bauer
The first 3-6 months are usually the worst.
Fuckin hell... almost every DJ I google has tinnitus. How the hell is tinnitus not talked about more to warn people?
    Foamearplugssuck
exactly. most people dont even know how to put in earplugs properly. also how the fuck do so few DJs have hyperacusis? its infuriating.
    Anniz
hey music producer here. tinnitus is not spoken about because it's the same effect as "do not drink and do not do drugs" people will not understand the after effect of either until it happens to them. unfortunately warning about such things in an event is "lame." and people will always want the music louder even though the actual sound engineer behind the event does not want to exceed it.
Life feels like a simulation right now. Feels like there is a flaw in my simulator. Lol
After 4 months I'm getting back to my normal life. Fuck this T shit, it's annoying but life is always annoying...
I always needed 100% quite when sleeping so for me masking my T is even worse. Rather listen to my T and fall asleep. Starting to like my T
Question: what do you think, what % of population have T which is not only audible in a quiet room? My grandma and father has it like that
    TheDanishGirl
I read several places that an estimated 10-15% of the population has chronic tinnitus and the vast majority only have mild or moderate tinnitus. Intermittent tinnitus is much more common.
    I can't belive. I just watched a video on youtube where they blast a 100 000Watts system without a problem and I get T from a 600Watts...
But if I occasionally hear it, then I'm okay with it. So I will mask it with moderate music/buds/headphones
I can't habituated, I already listened to my T for hours. I get more and more mad the longer I listen. 1/2
    Stacken77
@GCS I've listened to my grinding and buzzing at maximum unmasked level for 5 months. I'm definitely used to it by now, but it sure gets uncomfortable when it spikes. You'll habituate in time, but it takes lots of time.
I will continue the use of earbuds and headphones, that was 90% of my life, just on a lower sensible level. 60-70dbs, miss my EDMs
    Steph1710
I used to live in headphones! I never thought I'd would be in a world where I wasn't attached to a pair.. BUT dude, seriously you can't use them anymore. Just do what I do and play your music out loud obnoxiously everywhere you go.
    GCS
@Stacken77 Used headphones and buds for 10 years, no T because the volume knob made sence. Bought a new car with awesome sound quality but the volume knob fucked me and got T.
    Stacken77
@GCS Yes, that's my experience too, but once we have T we have a new way of sensing hearing loss; our T increases. It doesn't take all that much to worsen the T once we have it.
The loudness bar fucked me up in my car. It shows that the volume is 30% but in reality it is almost 80%
    Vassili
You are so mad at your car. Maybe you want to burn that motherfucker down? No, seriously, man, just calm down. Some things just happen. You can't prevent everything. I know how you feel. I've been there. All these feelings are very destructive.
    Forever hopeful
I have a decibel meter on my cell phone. I turn it on when I listen to music in my car so that I can be sure how loud it really is and I don't rely on the bar displaying the volume on the stereo. I use it everywhere like restaurants etc. Sorry to hear this happened to you.
    GCS
@Forever hopeful yes, I measured it with a phone app on full blast. It showed around 95dbs but I doubt. My ears would have been perfectly fine because I haven't put it up that high for a long time (probably for couple of seconds)
