Could a Gas-Powered Floor Scrubber Damage Hearing or Worsen Tinnitus?

Thank you for the responses! I’m actually not using a ton of gas equipment right now- the most would be a lawnmower. And I definitely had earplugs inserted correctly, as I use them a lot and know how they work!

Could a Gas-Powered Floor Scrubber Damage Hearing or Worsen Tinnitus?

Hello everyone! Question for you all: yesterday I was in a pet store picking up some crickets for a really cute leopard gecko I have. I had in some 32 dB foam earplugs, and there was a gas floor scrubber there cleaning the floor. I was in there perhaps for 5-10 minutes, and I think I measured...

Lawn Mower 125 Feet Away While Wearing Earplugs, No Harm to Hearing/Tinnitus, Right?

Hey everyone! I've got a stupid question for you - if there was a lawn mower going like 125 feet away, and I was wearing earplugs, I’d be fine to be in that area for a few minutes right? Just curious! :)

Clarinet Playing! :) Is It a Safe Noise Level? Can It Make Tinnitus Worse?

Thanks! I played it for about 10 min yesterday quietly with earplugs, and it was just fine. Honestly it’s the same level as talking or singing with earplugs in. It’s mostly bone conduction when you have them in, and I was playing clarinet earlier this year when I had ear troubles and was doing...

Clarinet Playing! :) Is It a Safe Noise Level? Can It Make Tinnitus Worse?

Hey everyone! I’m thinking of pulling out my clarinet and playing it again after a few months since I graduated from college. I’ll wear earplugs and/or earmuffs depending on how loud I play. Does this seem like a safe noise level to you all?

Independence Day — Fourth of July — Fireworks, Tinnitus and Hearing Damage

Is that 80 decibels max for a firework (I was sitting inside) anything I should worry about? I doubt it, as literally doing dishes can be louder than that.

Independence Day — Fourth of July — Fireworks, Tinnitus and Hearing Damage

Well I’m sitting in my basement, all good here. Loudest one from inside was maybe 60-80 dB, so that’s not loud at all :)

Air Blower Next Door: Could It Spike Tinnitus?

:) thanks. I gotta remind myself that random loud events just happen, and no matter what I do I can’t control them.

Air Blower Next Door: Could It Spike Tinnitus?

Hello everyone! A neighbor was using an electric air blower next door (maybe 50 feet away), after about 30 seconds I was able to get earplugs in. Any chance this could spike tinnitus? Also, I looked up online how loud electric blowers are, and it looks like they’re 65-75 dB about 50 feet away...

Trains, Cars and Motorcycles (Oh My) — Could These Lead to Increases in Tinnitus?

I hope you like the Wizard of Oz reverence :) Today I was in a town with a few friend and on the way down, was next to a car with a noisy muffler. I put earplugs on as soon as I could, but it was rather annoying. A little bit later, I was near a train (50 ish feet away) and it was...

How Loud Are Circular Saws? Dangerous for Hearing / Tinnitus?

Well, I actually went and measured it! It (not cutting wood) was around 85 decibels, and when it cut wood the max was 96.5 decibels. So even with the worst case scenario for my hearing protection (which I used, earplugs and earmuffs), the highest noise exposure for me for like a second would be...

How Loud Are Circular Saws? Dangerous for Hearing / Tinnitus?

Hey everyone! One more question: I’ve recently been near some handheld electric circular saws, standing perhaps 15 feet away while helping make a garden fence. I’m using both earplugs (the foam ones with a 32 decibel rating) and earmuffs (with like a 30 decibel rating). Any concerns about it...

Electric Drill and Motorcycle Noises — Risk to Hearing or Tinnitus?

Ok! Still though, I don’t think it would be damaging to wear earplugs with a drill. Everywhere seems to say it only helps.
