Underwent Gamma Knife for Acoustic Neuroma Yesterday

Merry Christmas! That's the best gift ever. Your situation reminds me a lot of my case. I'm glad you have enough hearing left that the hearing aid helps. I fear what I will do when I go completely deaf in my right ear and the hearing aid will no longer be beneficial. I started going to the...

Underwent Gamma Knife for Acoustic Neuroma Yesterday

Yes! Thanks for all the kind words from everyone... It's interesting how there is more encouragement and empathy from members on Tinnitus Talk than from my real life doctors and audiologists. Thanks again for the support! My family was blown away when I told them about this :)

Underwent Gamma Knife for Acoustic Neuroma Yesterday

For being just two months post-op your progress looks very encouraging. The fluctuations are perfectly normal. Hopefully they will even out to something you can manage nicely. I'm just over 5 years post Gamma Knife. Unfortunately, my audiogram this afternoon at the University of Michigan is...

Looking for Tips for Getting Over the Habituation Hump

In this thread you say "Hearing aids are not white noise generators and are the wrong devices to treat tinnitus and hyperacusis if present. I wish some Audiologists would stop doing this because it's wrong"... and in the other thread you go on to explain precisely how hearing aids help tinnitus.

Looking for Tips for Getting Over the Habituation Hump

I find this to be excellent advice; however, it's kind of contradictory to what you're saying in this thread?

    Hearing Aids

This is exactly the case with me. I prefer amplification alone (of the natural quiet environment) over white noise or ring tones. Today, I tried the new (September 2020) hearing aid called ReSound One ($3,500 USD for only one) and it was really good at alleviating my tinnitus. The 6 white noise...

Underwent Gamma Knife for Acoustic Neuroma Yesterday

Many thanks for the encouraging research regarding FX-322. I'm with you regarding lowering the tinnitus. At the beginning my ENT would inject a liquid steroid into my eardrum and this would provide relief for a full week from my tinnitus. I could still clearly hear it but it was so low it was...

Underwent Gamma Knife for Acoustic Neuroma Yesterday

I had my ears cleaned with the vacuum/suctioning device that they used. A week later I came back complaining that I had a ringing in my ears. The ENT thought I wanted to sue them for malpractice and whipped out charts on how cleaning ears doesn't cause damage or ringing. At this point, I never...

How Do You Maintain a Career with Moderate and Severe Tinnitus?

That's great to hear; however, as you know everyone experiences tinnitus differently and at different levels of intensity. Some people simply can't make it work when it's catastrophic tinnitus. Hence the suicide rate.

Frequency Therapeutics — Hearing Loss Regeneration

I have high-frequency tinnitus. If this really works, it would be a game changer.

Reviews of EARLENS Hearing Aids Targeting HIGH FREQUENCY Hearing Loss?

I agree. Every day is a struggle. Life should be enjoyed.

    Suicidal

My ENT and audiologists tell me to stay off tinnitus forums, and researching the internet, fearing it will make me focus on my tinnitus more and make it worse. It appears they have no clue how bad my tinnitus really is.

How Do You Maintain a Career with Moderate and Severe Tinnitus?

Apparently in the USA some with severe debilitating tinnitus have been successful applying for SSI, especially with hearing loss and other comorbidities (major depression, OCD, bipolar, obesity, etc).

Be Honest. Do You Still Enjoy Life?

My life has effectively ended when I was diagnosed with an acoustic neuroma in May 2015 with high-pitched relentless tinnitus. Nearly 6 years later, and nothing new has been developed to help me with my tinnitus. I don't see much promise for the next 6 years either, as my tinnitus was caused by...
