  • I'm getting a tinnitus attack that is super loud and lasts a second. It happens randomly, mainly when I'm trying to sleep. It's horrifying.
I've lived with tinnitus and hyperacusis for many years since childhood. I don't know how it got this bad out of no where.

Me too, lived with it since childhood and got worse over the years. But now it's crazy.. Trying to accept the situation but it's hard. Feeling so sad.
A year of worsening. My life is at an all time low. I want it to get better. I want the reactiveness to go away. Hyperacusis at mild.

May I ask what caused your worsening?

@Juliane I don't know. It just showed up out of no where one day.

@HopeForAll96 - this is me. Worsening daily regardless of what I do. I think major noise traumas are what killed me. If you leave your home and live to me they are unavoidable. It's like being allergic to air!
Should I reinstate Zoloft? Ever since I tapered them back in June, my reactive tinnitus and hyperacusis and VSS has been worse.
I woke up with a massive spike and I'm scared.

I'd say that it's pretty normal. Somethings you get woken up in the middle of sleep cycles so the noise isn't compeltly shut off. Sometimes it'll fade, and sometimes it'll last the rest of the day. But try not to worry about it unless it a 100% spike that last more than a day. Even then it will most likely fade.

@Marshall I don't know if the reason it spiked was because I slept with ear plugs. I've been protecting my ears as much as I can with ear muffs or ear plugs.
