  • Idea of a cure is ridiculous. Millions poured into cancer research, and cancer still has NO cure. T gets fraction of that $
    Contrast
cure hearing loss via regeneration of cochlear hair cells and you can expect a reduction in T if you have it because of hearing loss.
    Autumnly
But the idea of a treatment that could reduce the loudness isn't, at least in my opinion. I'm not saying someone's going to invent a 'magic pill' in a year but an actual treatment for a subgroup of sufferers in 10 years sounds reasonable.

    Someone kill me. Ugh.
The cure has been coming in the "next five years" for the last fifteen years.
    Contrast
When has cochlear hair cell regeneration been in clinical trials before? Or trials about to start in 2019 on auditory nerve repair? Future is now.

@Contrast I am cynical but hey if something happens amazing but getting my hopes is something I cannot do
Any cure yet? No? Back to hell I go. #lifesucks

According to 3 audiologists + 1 ENT I have zero hearing loss

But... "HIDDEN HEARING LOSS" forum says

audiologist + ENT: "never heard of it, stop googling"

My audiologist told me the same.. to stop googling that it is all nothing... Maybe he wanted to calm me down so that I don't worry anymore... IT is true that there are no real tests that can truly capture the problems with hidden hearing loss. From now on I am only listening to my ignorant doctors... i feel better when they say IT is nothing....

    T is hell
Gonna try a blood test to see if deficient in anything, and then neck massages next. Yeah I still hope to be rid of this HELL. #fml
If T is a symptom and not disease, why won't moron doctors find out a symptom of what!??!?!?! FML
    T
Lmao you make a good point. It should be considered a disease tbh or some type of illness.

Whenever I read that somewhere, it makes me irate. It's like they're playing it down. That sums up everything we have to put up with. Tinnitus is an illness/desease (of some kind) in it's own right imo. Until people's attitudes towards it change, nothing will ever happen...
...even though ENTs, doctors, and audiologists don't know anything about tinnitus and can't help out, so we're all f*cked anyways
That moment you realize anytime you ask a tinnitus question the answer is always "ask a doctor", "get checked out by ENT/audiologist"...
That ENT visit you waited forever for that always, always crushes your hopes and dreams

:( I am going to another ENT in march next year, one with a good reputation, I am exited tom see what he will tell me, but afraid that it will be another "there is nothing to do about it, go home and learn to live with it" :(
I refuse to believe my 65 year old father who was in the army, shot guns, attended 100s of heavy metal shows, has no tinnitus, but me...

@Lex I doubt it. Despite my age (32) my grandparents and great grandparents are still alive. In fact, my genes are excellent. Everyone in my family is in great shape, tall, athletic, and zero tinnitus. I asked around. My destiny? I keep asking myself what the point of my life is, especially lately.
    Lex
Ah then maybe you're just the unlucky one, the person who got the short end of the stick. Sucks to be part of the tiny unlucky minority. Also, maybe life doesn't need to have a point. Sure feels pointless to me now when almost 24/7 of it is spent on finding ways to minimize worsening and manage pain.
    IAmCalifornia
@Lex I hear you man, 24/7 Chinese water torture...
I want a god damn cure now enough of this tinnitus shit, tinnitus has taken EVERYTHING
    dpdx
    are you having a spike?
    IAmCalifornia
@dpdx nope just it never went away, it's just there haunting my worthless piece of crap tinnitus life
So uh well there ever be a way to tell: this is what is causing your tinnitus, eat this or take this-or are we all just f-ked for life!!!!!!
Have been reading your posts I'm sorry you are going through it I do hope things look up for you very soon I know how your feeling this tinnitus is soul destroying
Why do people go to clubs-loud concerts-sporting events all their life and no tinnitus but one day I wake up and BAM my life changed 4ever

Unfortunately, in life.. there is a thing called 'sods law'. In life things don't always make sense and can feel unfair. As much as I agree with you, thinking like this will only make things worse. I wish you all the best.
Fuck life. Thanks tinnitus. You have destroyed me.
    Kolisar
I'm sorry you are struggling so much with tinnitus. It is miserable, but you do not have to let it destroy you. I know it is difficult, but you can win. You can beat this.
